You know… we did try the whole “let’s not change the clocks thing” before… it didn’t work

yup… he talks about that as well. This guy is pretty good. @Orlando_Eagles turned me onto his stuff.

Oh nice. Didn’t see this thread or that you put Dr. Z up. And I actually hadn’t come across this video. This guy can come across pompous, like an elite know it all. But, I found when I resisted that he makes a lot of logical sense on a lot of things.

Watching it I agree with a lot. I know many that feel no ill effect from the time change. I used to be one of them. I don’t know if it’s me getting older or that it just effects kids more, and I’m swimming in kid hell.

I’d prefer standard time, ultimately but really just prefer having to not change the time at all.

My company has a big presence in Arizona and that one hour difference in winter fucks me up way more often than an 8+ hour difference for somewhere across the pond.

My mother's best friend, with whom I was very close, lived in Arizona from before I moved out here.
Never, in all those years, could I figure out what the hell time it was for her.
Sometimes it was the same time as here, even though it was supposed to be a different time zone.

I just hate it getting dark before 5pm.
Hate. It.

Whether it is light or dark outside, I don't wanna get out of bed,
So I don't care what time the sun comes up.

If I read the proposed change I think it means more dark mornings when it’s time to take the kids in. I don’t like that idea, but I am also THAT sick of changing clocks twice a year.

Yep! It sucks! In Outlook, I have three time zones up and there’s is always one of them because it sucks ass.
There’s also a sliver of Indiana that doesn’t move or is aligned with Illinois while the rest of the state is not or something. That would really be mindfucky!

The Hoover dam (which straddles NV and AZ) has clock towers at either end that you see as you drive over the dam. Even though AZ is a neighboring state I too can’t keep the time straight.

School which takes play for half the school year in winter essentially could also make permanent adjustments to starting time maybe split the difference and set school start time back half an hour permanently

Next time try actually looking at the clock on the Arizona side.
I think that's what it is for.

Meh if you're doing business you can spend an extra 30 seconds to look up the time it is where you're going or calling we have time zones as it is so no matter what there's an adjustment
Time is MONEY, Xennial Dude!! :heh:

its tough enough setting up a conf call with all the different time zones. Could you imagine if each state had their own?
If only there was a global reference point

Everybody should just change what time they go to work/school twice a year.

Problem solved.

I’m in the minority, but I don’t care how early the sun goes down, I have more fun at night, but I want the sun to rise as early as possible. I hate working in the dark and it won’t get daylight until 9 AM in the winter. If you’re gonna do away with time changes, let it fall back and then keep it there. Gives us the hour of a weekend they stole away from us back that way too
I’m in this camp too. We can deal with dark mornings for a few weeks out of the year. The changing twice thing plays hell with people for days, particularly when you have to deal with the rest of the world that doesn’t engage in this garbage. Stoners can learn to get out of bed on time.

Further I'd say a standard global time is overdue.

The number representation is meaningless. If you're meeting is at 1800 GMT then it's well defined. We could all live in GMT who cares if it's 1200 at sunrise it's all arbitrary

Was that a "gin induced" comment?? :heh:

:martini:
It might have originated that way a while back! That's always been my comeback whenever the topic comes up. If people want extry light here or there, then adjust yer working hours, don't mess with the clocks
