Some conferences play different types of ball, and it doesnt always match up well with other conferences. Just because a team does well in conference, doenst mean shit in the tourney. Styles of play create advantages and disadvantages, like in boxing. Its about being able to adapt, make in game changes, and playing your best game, every game.

That is fair. You have situation in other sports too where teams win and are not the best. The Cincinnati Bengals this past year was a classic example. Both the Titans and Chiefs crap the bed against them.
 
Look up the 1994 Denver Nuggets vs Seattle in the 1st round. Even the best in a 5 or 7 games series can lose. It’s much more about who can get it together and get hot late in the season. Like the super bowl, nba, hockey, college b-ball, golf, tetherball and even curling. Womens volleyball perhaps as well even tho I just watch it for the shorts

the one thing that should never be changed is the NCAA tourney

Turnovers are the closest thing to an equalizer in football, but there really isn't anything quite like just not being able to hit shots on a certain night.

The tournament makes big money by drawing people who don't follow college basketball that closely all year.

If St Peters has to go to Lexington, yea, they cant win, but then its much less of a draw.

The tournament and rooting for your team are 2 separate things.

I feel like with basketball, it comes down to how your shooting is that day. Go outside and shoot the ball, some days everything is droppings and others nothing is going in. It is just the way of the sport.

This is why March Madness is NOT a very good method for determining a champion because the best team may have a poor shooting day and get beat. Three #1 seeds and two #2 seeds are already gone.

There is no doubt that shooting is a part of it. There are days when teams can't throw it in the ocean if they are standing on the dock.

But March Madness IS more of a playoff. CFP is an invitational. Big difference. If you reduce invitations far enough there is not risk of the top seeds losing early.

It may not be. But, IMHO it is a hell of a lot better than sitting around and voting on it like a beauty pageant. At least it is settled by playing and winning several games in a row. And each subequent opponent has also won games on the court in order to get to the same point.
