Welcome to the Air Raid era SEC

I posted something similar in the game thread, but this is the most talented roster that Mike Leach has ever had, I didn't envy LSU for being the first team to have to play them. I think we all expected regression from LSU this season too. Miss State will pull some upsets and probably lose a couple games they shouldn't.
and in the first game of the season no less. No chance to get your feet under you.

Oh and your best defender is out.

Lots of excuses to say a team that still is more talented than MSU got their assess handed to them.

I doubt that’s the only more talented team MSU beats this season. I also expect them to lose to a team or two with equal or less talent

Yeah, I'm out to defend LSU :L

Georgia Tech gimmicks their way into a win or two each year that they have no business winning. That's the Leach way.

The ol' ball corch was 30 years ahead of his time. "Meh, throw it down the sideline" was the battle cry.

By the way, a few SEC secondaries are going to have an orgy with most of these teams trying an air attack. It'll be the season of the Pick 6.

lol it's not the cb's who will be having orgasms.. they will be too busy fuming at the 240 lb LB who gets matched one on one with a 5'8 4.5 running rb in the flat

ahh welcome to the air raid where it's a complete coin toss..

I hear you but you need to realize he's still going to have a few WTF games during the season. He will get better players but doesn't mean he will repeat what he did at tech in 2008.. that took some time to build.. Not sure if MSU really has the patience for him, but we'll see.
Tech admin was spineless regarding the Adam/Craig James shitstorm. Should have never fired Leach IMO. Tupperware and Coach GQ didn't move them up. I do like what Helms is trying to do and his mentality.

It's Tebow's dream set-up. The LBs are scampering around while he puts his head down and trots for another 7 yards.

it's all about matchups.. Urban exploited that with his power running offenses.. which now can be defended better.. But having a qb with zip and decent legs is the new wave. Air Raid is here, and once more teams adapt to it, the scoring will go up because it's inevitable.. But it will make SEC games enjoyable to watch, especially if it's not your school in a shoot out lol

Speaking of which, who are the best running QBs this season? (besides freakin' Franks at Arkie) It seems like 5 years since CFB - can't remember shit!

good question.. Since urban left tosu doesn't run it as much.. Tom Herman does it but Sam doesn't run it as effectively as Braxton Miller did. Is Pigme or whatever still at MD? That kid could run.

Yeah, UF's Trask is a gun slinger too...can scramble but would rather not.

Are there any sCam Newtons in the league anymore?

Don't think so.. Texas has a kid I really like who is built similar to him but the natives are already wanting him to switch to being a LB since Ewers is coming in 22.. But even in the NFL you are seeing smaller QBs. Only a few big Qbs are playing..Cam, Ben, Allen, Wentz.. Haskins I guess?

Well, not necessarily size. Look at Mahomes - super mobile, scampery bitch.

Back when they actually used to hit QBs in the NFL, a small running QB would be hamburger.

Or rug rat slot receivers. Wes Welker? Danny Amendola? More recently Jakeem Grant? Keke Coutee? Those little rabbit like farts are a real pain in the ass.

Have you ever been to Starkville, Mississippi? It's not a college town that recruits on its own like other towns. Mississippi has some good players, but it isn't like Florida, Georgia, Texas, California, and other hotbeds of highs school recruits. They don't have a ton of tradition. Never really won anything. They have to play LSU, Bama, Auburn, TAMU every year. Then KY and OM. Then one of UF, UGA, UTjr every few years. It's going to be really hard to win there, but if anyone has a chance it will be Leach.

That said, don't think that the SEC teams won't adjust to his offense. We will and we have the players on D to counter it. Everyone thought Oregon's offense was going to be the next big thing. It was good for a few years, then people figured it out. Can Leach build a defense? That could be the key for him.

But, I love having Leach in the SEC. He's just good for college football.
Mississippi has great recruits. They are always do well on per capita basis for recruits and NFL players. Population isn’t huge, but if a program locked down the state in recruiting they would put out very competitive teams

It's tough in Lubbock since it's a LOOOOOONG drive to Houston, Central TX for recruiting purposes.. DFW is closer but not that much.. 5 hours or so? But that's where they need to plant a flag at
