It's Issue an Apology Tuesday

I felt the same way when Seinfeld ended.

That's exactly what this rule means to me... I didn't get a chance.... booooooooooooooooooooooohooooooooooooo... You have 4 Fing quarters and a possession in OT to STOP a team.. It didn't happen, move on

A coin flip shouldn't decide which team has momentum. That is fucking stupid.

Yeah, but neither team's defense was up to the task of stopping the other during regulation, so clearly one of them should get another chance based on a coin flip.

What are you, one of these everyone gets a trophy type?!

The team that scores last usually has the momentum... But a coin flip doesn't decide it... Because Team A wins the coin toss they win the game? WHY even play after the coin toss then? The bottom line is both teams could get a shot if the defense does their job and holds them to no TD or only to a FG

I still say you just keep playing. If the game is tied at the :00, continue play until a team scores. No coin flip or equal possessions
This.

I could maybe see shortening the periods after regulation, but I think you should play by the same rules.

@SlinkyRedfoot so 100% of the time the team that wins the coin toss WINS the game?

Just hold a team to a FG or stop them from getting a TD and you get the ball back

Ok - this is the "apology thread" 90.1% is pretty damn close......

I stand corrected.... I still say keep the rules the same

"But in the playoffs, coin toss winners are 10-1, winning 90.9 percent of overtime contests. Seven of the 10 winners scored the sudden-death touchdown on the opening drive. New Orleans was the only team to lose, falling to the Rams in 2018, and that game had its own share of controversy in regulation"

HAHA.

As I was reading the sentence about your son starting daycare, I was thinking to myself, 'damn, here comes the walking petri dish, ChiSox is gonna be SICK the next few months.'

If/when we nail the trip dates down, I'll shoot you a text. It'd be fun to tell Mrs Redfoot that I gotta go have some drinks with my old friend, ChiSoxFan.
I used to love telling my mother-in-law that I met up with my internet friends. The look on her face was priceless.

Yeah, but you've done some crazy shit with strangers from the internet. I kind of don't blame your mother-in-law.

Full disclosure, if I meet up with @ChiSoxFan , that will be the first person from the internet that I've actually met and I've been posting with him for probably close to 18 years. There are only a handful of internet peeps that know my real email address or phone number.

I keep pretty anonymous on these sites.

I probably waited about 5 years before meeting anyone I posted with. But I've posted with all the people I've actually met for at least 15 years. Some over 20.

I figure if they have been grooming me for a get together for 5-20 years they probably deserve getting the outcome they wanted.

That's a very 2011 way of thinking. After making the NFL so pass-happy, it's virtually impossible to prevent a team from gaining 40 yards and kicking a field goal. Defenses were anemic and incapable of stopping offenses from scoring, even at the beginning of games; by the end, the defense is exhausted.

Ok, if they held team to a FG then their offense would get a shot... So...............
