I feel like Denzel does some movies that just aren't good...like he doesn't pick the best projects all the time. Great actor...just not always the best movies.

Every actor has starred in a bad movie. That is more the fault of the producer and not the actor. Denzel Washington is a great actor.

I think he does that to keep himself from being typecast, or to stretch himself. You can't just pick the great roles once you have hit a certain price or else that is what you are known for. But take a role in a bad movie where your performance can be reviewed as "the only redeeming thing in the movie" and it sets you up for a longer career.

Just my opinion on why some big actors take crap roles. :)
 
there aren't a ton of actors/actresses I will go out of my way to see in something outside of the ones I listed.

I will go see something directed by someone more than just and actor/actress.

I did say tho that in always delivering it means they elevate shitty movies.

Every actor appears in shitty movies but there are some that regardless of the movie at least their performance is really strong so you dont feel like you completely wasted your time.

That said there are a few Denzel movies imo, that were so dumb and not elevated much by having him(certainly didnt make them worse though).

Pretty sure the best answer is Tom Hanks. If Tom is in it, the movie is going to be the tits. Nobody else could have made Joe vs the Volcano as good as he did.

for some reason I like to think of it as "if so and so is in this movie/show, it improves the movie/show"...and not necessarily in a major role.

like seeing Timothy Oliphant in The Mandalorian improved that for me...and when I found out he was in it, I wanted to see what it was more.

there are times I will see a movie and say "so and so was the only bright spot in that movie."

I think John Goodman is another one.

I guess I have to put Jennifer Aniston in that category. Can't recall the movie, but I was dating a chick around 99/00 who wanted to go see some chick flick with me. I refused but she told me Jenn was in it and got topless. Long story short, I dumped her the next day for lying to me.

Maaan if that ain't some racism...

He is far and away the best actor on there. Keanu Reeves is far and away the worst actor on there, but he does a lot of action so he gets passes.

I remember rewatching Speed about a year ago and thinking 'my goodness, Keanu is a terrible actor', but I do still like the movie. Speed is very entertaining, but Hopper and Bullock blow him away in terms of acting.
