Why do boot laces suck?

Been there. If you will lace them up correctly, slag won't get inside them without burning through. They make leather leg guards as well. Wear the proper PPE.

They make these lace guards. They also sell laced boots, with leather lace guards built in, or you get your slip on, and disguise them with a lace guard, so nobody knows they're slip on. Use that big ole water head for something besides a straw hat rack.
 
If OP had balls he would wear slip on boots and fuck the regs.
 
BTW I have had slag get in my boot and had to use a bosun's knife to get it off my ankle ... but gouging a weld and getting blowback in the ear canal is far worse. There isn't much pain but the sizzling lasts for what seems like an eternity.

And I’ll be the first to say that I’m not a fan of lace up boots. I wore slip ons up until they started requiring lace ups for ankle support after some retard broke his ankle in South Carolina.

But outside of just running wire through the holes, is there any laces you can get that don’t suck donkey balls. Hell, I feel like you couldn’t even choke anyone to death with these without them breaking

They break easily. I'm replacing them fuckers on the routine.

I think they're designed to fail like lightbulbs.

I feel your pain. I have to wear safety boots all day long and I'm constantly having to dick around all day re-tieing those cockcuckers up. Also, I'm lucky to get 6 months out of a pair.

And lastly - Carhartts pants are more like Shithartts pants in my line of work. Sure, they look good but they're half as durable as Dickies and they're twice the price. Even the Kodiaks aren't that impressive.
