I think both actors here were shitty and should have handled things differently. No one needed to die that day. Dead guy was much bigger and was belligerent. I can see why the shooter felt the need to defend himself. He was at his own home. That said, at the time he shot him he was posing no risk. At the end of the day, all legalities aside, a man died just because he wanted to see his son. That sucks.
Shooter gets pushed slightly, turns and shoots. Bad optics there IMO.

I don't know how emotionally driven the dead father was though. That can certainly add to his belligerent approach, especially if this isn't the first time he has had this problem with his ex wife.

so was the exwife with the kid at Carruth's house and Read was there to pick up his kid?
The ex was there at the time of the shooting. Dead guy was there to pick up his kid at his designated time, but the kid was not there. Argument ensued.

but like the Rittenhouse case, this dude injected himself into a situation. If he hadn't decided to be the hero, no one would have been shot and killed, right?
You should stick to talking about shit you know about. What that is I have no idea.

They seemed to be arguing where the kid was. Dead guy surely thought the kid was there. Whether he was or not I don’t know.

I also don’t know any of these people….but very likely dead guy was all worked up as they’ve been over this time and time again.

just seems shady, is all.

thanks, Fish.

kindly go make yourself another drink

Here’s a full video

Guy is arguing with his ex about their kid, threatening to take everyone there to court(sounds like keeping the kid away has been an on going issue)

Shooter walks out with gun, dead guy says “you better fucking use it motherfucker”

They bump chests, shooter fires shot into ground, dead guy pushes shooter away from house.

Shooter turns back towards house and shoots the guy dead.

Neither handled the situation well, but the guy wasn’t posing a lethal threat or even making threats other than taking the ex and others at the house to court.

I guess shooter was legally within his right, but was completely unnecessary. And like I said, taunting a much smaller man with a gun isn’t the smartest thing in the world.

The kid is who I feel most sorry for.

All around shitty situation

by spinning the shooter away from that house, that is technically assault and gives the shooter the legal right to do what he did. I agree.

but I still feel like it could have been handled differently by the dude with the gun.

A Carruth vs. A Chad.... who could have seen this coming?

*Even better; Kyle vs Chad.

I agree. Getting the gun out at all wasn’t needed there. Killing an unarmed dude just trying to see his kid is pretty shitty, and shooting towards a house is stupid too.

Dead guy wasn’t being to smart and definitely could have handled the situation better, but didn’t deserve to die

agree

there was a lot of stupid going on there, that's for sure.

and the ex wife kicked it off.

The mother is suing her lover for killing her ex?

But I will say if someone has a gun trying to get you to leave, you probably shouldn’t taunt them with “you better fucking use it”
especially after he already fires one round at your feet. Should have left and called the cops on them for not turning over the kid.

Yeah but there is still a defense of "I didn't know if he was going after the ex-wife inside" (not sure if she was even home, just fighting to find the justification)

the shot at his feet and him spinning him away happened very quickly though...it's not like there was a ton of space to operate since the foot shot was performed basically in Read's face and Carruth immediately gets back in Read's face.

like if you fire a warning shot and then proceed to be within an arm's length from the guy...there isn't much opportunity for the warning shots to have an affect really...

She was outside as well. I believe she is in the background in post 47.

I thought the ex-wife was outside and the current wife was the one recording
