Guy is arguing with his ex about their kid, threatening to take everyone there to court(sounds like keeping the kid away has been an on going issue)

Shooter walks out with gun, dead guy says “you better fucking use it motherfucker”

They bump chests, shooter fires shot into ground, dead guy pushes shooter away from house.

Shooter turns back towards house and shoots the guy dead.

Neither handled the situation well, but the guy wasn’t posing a lethal threat or even making threats other than taking the ex and others at the house to court.

I guess shooter was legally within his right, but was completely unnecessary. And like I said, taunting a much smaller man with a gun isn’t the smartest thing in the world.

The kid is who I feel most sorry for.

All around shitty situation

You left out the part where dumbass tried to grab and take the gun away in your explanation.

I’d say that’s a pretty natural reaction if you’re unarmed and someone is threatening you with a gun.

I don’t think either guy was ever gonna be considered an Einstein of their time

thanks, Fish.

kindly go make yourself another drink
GFY. I'm too busy making sure my ar15s don't climb out of storage on their own and shoot up a school to do much drinking.

Well my reaction would have been to leave the premises.

that would all depend on how drunk you were though

Oddly enough i was curious if the guy could have fired a warning shot from his porch to let the dead guy know he meant business. Apparently its not legal to fire a warning shot? intersting if this quick google search is correct for texas.

Personally if i am that worried that i need a gun i call the cops first then present the weapon and fire a warning shot ? i dunno so many things the guy could have done differently seems like an unnecessary escalation of this conflict. Hell call the cops and get everyone who belongs there in the house if it gets worse then take more lethal measures but it didnt look like it was needed. did dead guy have a weapon of any sort other than his clear weight advantage?

doesn't sound like it.

and I would love to know where the kid(s) actually were. There are a couple gaps in the story I am missing.

That would have been the smart thing to do, like I said, neither guy was a candidate for MENSA.
but do you leave without your kids or seeing them?

again, this is TX and a bit of a power struggle between the two men...that tends to cloud judgement.

I went through these custody games for over a decade dumbfuck. Kids not there, kids late, me always packing back then. Didn't shoot anyone, didn't get shot. Didn't pick up my kids while drunk.

so do you sympathize for the father in that the ex wife had fucked with the custody argument multiple times?

do you think the shitbird with the gun was justified in bringing out a loaded firearm?

I dont know that she did that. His property, being threatened by an obvious loudmouth bully sure he was justified.

Had he just left, he would have had multiple videos that would have helped his case in getting a better custody deal. But heat of the moment and frustration over an ongoing issue can cloud judgement

so you are aligned with the defense that Read "fucked around and found out"?

The woman filming from the car says “call 911” after the dude was shot.

Probably should have crossed her mind before it got to that point

I feel like firing a warning shot while standing 5 ft from a guy isn't much of a warning shot since the guy was able to get right into the little man's face. Was he expecting Read to throw his hands up and be like "whoa whoa whoa...let's not get crazy" instead?

Warning shots are stupid and usually illegal.
