Busy Tuesday Morning

in Texas it is "assumed" if you are a landscaper you are illegal. And if you only take cash, the assumption is confirmed.

Well that IS Texas sooooo

Our house painter knocked a few grand off the cost when I offered to pay in cash. Who am I to judge.

Unless you’re the guy who owns the company, or that guys best buddy/brother. But even then, ya.

I will have to disagree with you there but I am sure there are a lot of felons in the landscaping industry

that doesn't make someone a felon...it just means it doesn't necessarily get reported with taxes

or just uneducated ditch diggers.

I don't think it is fair to say "you mow lawns? how long were you in prison?"

Agree. Again, this was a company by owner. I’m strictly talking about the burnout grunts who ride around on mowers from 7am-9pm every day to make a living. You don’t do that unless you need to. A lot of them prob can’t pass drug tests either.

need to because that's all they are qualified to do or need to because no one will hire a "felon"?

it's honest work, I don't know why you insist on looking down on them like you do.

do you get drug tested as a fitness instructor? Seems like that's something a "felon" could be doing...

Lawn guy is only a few steps above guy who used to pick up dog shit out of my neighbors backyard for $15 a week.

Once you have acquired enough felony’s, your job options are limited to things like lawn guy.
A lot of the lawn guys around here seem to be kids/young adults. Like guys in college or fresh out of high school age. More likely people that need some money while in school or don't have a lot of options straight out of high school.

There's obviously the hispanic crews as well, but I don't think they are felons

Forget my agent being there, I'm there for both. I can answer any questions the guy inspecting the one I'm selling, and ask any for the one I'm buying. If the inspector doesn't like it, either tough crap in one instance or I'll hire another in the other. I don't get in the spaces with them, but am at the bottom of the ladder or in the room with them.
as the buyer i wouldnt want the seller there

The wife thinks I'd like poutine.

I need to try that.

I don’t know why you treat the board like your own personal group therapy session. How long did you mow lawns for before you landed your current low paying job?

the neighbor kid will help me with random yardwork from time to time, but man is that kid a slacker.

He doesn't even ride a bike around the neighborhood because his parents let him use the golf cart.

Some landscapers make bank though.. Yes they work the job a lot of people don't really want to do but the money can be good...

I'm just calling you out for being the asshole that you are.

and I bussed tables in high school, taught some tennis, and painted houses during college before I got my first internship...then I entered the real world after college.

how come you're dodging my questions? Are you a felon, knuckle tats?

The crew that does the landscaping at my apartment complex is mostly Hispanic with a few others mixed in but they do seem to be educated

I use to help out my neighbor that had a lawn care side business. Wouldn't say it was the worst job I ever had, but damn it was brutal
