Who from your high school reached the top?

Yeah, I was in Hunters Creek and before Cypress Creek. It wasn’t the only school where you could see this in the parking lot, but there was a sure discrepancy.

I don’t believe the TP kids moved to Cypress….unless I’m wrong I think they still go to DP.

My best friend from Florida lived in Peppermill he was supposed to go to DP but ended up at Cypress Creek when that school opened. I don't know the particulars as I was already in PA when that happened.

IIRC they allowed Seniors stay at DP the first year Cypress opened. Everyone else had to change.

Cypress is such a shit hole school now. My brother graduated from there in 98, then it went straight down hill.

Bret Bielema........Hes a few years younger than I,but his sister was in my class.

And the school we went to, the graduating class of 1981 was 25 people......

Once when I was more ambitious (like in grade 12) I tried out for Reach For the Top, a Canuck TV show that pitted high school kids against those from another school with skill testing questions. It went national too.

I made the local team (it was a team of 4 with one alternate).

But the demands were horrible. They wanted us after school 3 days a week. And there were road trips that took away free time too.

I bailed. Fuck that shit. So while I reached for it, I gave up before reaching the top...

I was part of the first graduating class at my high school.

To my knowledge nobody there has went pro in any sport. Several college athletes.

I guess Chandler Whitmer was the closest we’ve had to going pro. He was the QB at UCONN a while back and at last check, was part of Clemson’s coaching staff, but he was only at my school for 9th grade before moving

But that mediocre high school team took Conner Shaw to the woodshed twice
It’s tough for an athlete to make a name for themselves when the school is a one room 1st through 12th grade. You just don’t have the numbers.

He did not. Not long hair either. High and tight. His Dad was military….very straight edge guy.

Reaching a level of success like this in sports can be very altering I guess…but I always read the Jesus look as “Dad would never allow this when I was growing up”.

That said….he was a talented kid and was very popular, but was one of those types that was always the nicest guy to everyone. Really genuine that way and raised right. It always made it easy to cheer for him in his career….at least up until he put those fucking pinstripes on.
