It’s complicated. I consider myself a fan and I respect and sympathize with the guy but the fact remains that The good he accomplished is very tainted. He abused everyone around him including his son. He apparently shows a lot of respect for his wife and is reportedly very faithful to her but I can’t imagine that The General is happy and satisfied with what he did with his life.
That said, if you love fundamental basketball, those Indiana glory days were a pinnacle!

No, but I believe it. In Indiana, that sentiment wasn't the exception, it was the rule. I saw the same thing when I lived in Lexington. It's mental illness. Even if some fans didn't agree with what Bobby did to him (and there was reportedly way worse that never made it on film) they'd excuse it, at least in front of other Indiana fans.
