I think they're starting to embrace the idea that there's no way to make MAC schools equal to Alabama.

I think the P5 and G5 separation is a sure thing at this point. The big question is what happens when the SEC and the B1G are getting double the amount of money per school per year than the other three P5 conferences. I think you will then see stratification within the P5. When, for example, UGA is getting $116 million per year, and Clemson is getting $50 million a year, Georgia will be able to hire many more coaches, provide greater athlete benefits, etc. That’s what’s going to be interesting to see what happens when those type of things take place. It’s going to be ugly, and I wish it wouldn’t happen. But the writings on the wall.

I remember the time Barry Switzer was bragging about the "OU Air Force". He said OU had over 40 planes at its disposal for whatever they needed. And does anyone remember the 120 guys that used to be on the sidelines? In blowouts we'd see players on the field with duplicate numbers of first and second teamers. The line of busses going into the State Fairgrounds for the OU/Texas game was awesome when there weren't any real limits on the numbers of players who could suit up. It was a gypsy rodeo.

SEC & B1G = Big Banks

So much money they'll survive regardless of anything that happens.

When this is all said and done, we might not even have the current conferences. There's a chance it's the NFL-Lite Division and the "everyone else" division.

I hope not. I think that would really damage college football but we are going down that road. There's still time to turn around but it's getting closer and closer to that moment.

If we look at the 1st round of the draft, we've already got that. Using the MLB Minor Leagues as a guide, the SEC is AAA, the B1G is AA and the ACC and PAC are A
SEC - 12
B1G - 7
ACC - 4
PAC - 4
Other - 5 Cincy, ND, Northern Iowa, Tulsa, Tenn-Chatt

no.. conferences aren't going to become irrelevant.. you know the sell of the SEC over actual programs? @fordman84 might hate me, but that is exactly what they did when they joined. They sold the conference more than the school on the trails in Texas. And at a point kids were buying it.. then heading to Ole Miss, LSU, Bama, etc.

Now they are getting those kids to actually commit to them instead of heading elsewhere in the conference for the most part. Don't undersell the "look how many players from the conference were NFL day 1 picks.. you have an opportunity to play against the best and show the world what you can do" pitch

Correct on all points. A&M being in the SEC was a recruiting selling point, more TV time and eyeballs and better competition. Also that I hate you :suds:

You’re about all that. However, If there’s an “NFL-lite” division, that will become the new place to play. That’s my only point.
