Well that happened fast ...

I hope you are correct. But it looks like it is going the other direction with Superconferences.

I hope you’re right. I think super conferences is better than where we are going, if I’m being honest

You’re about all that. However, If there’s an “NFL-lite” division, that will become the new place to play. That’s my only point.
i dont know if i see that if you mean based on money SEC and BIG because no one thinks of Vandy or Illinois as the same as Alabama or Ohio State. despite them getting the same money

Here's the thing...and this is just my humble opinion. They throw around the number 64 when talking superconferences. But there are really only about 30 that can "stand alone" at the "super" level. Again, JMO.

And I'm not talking about how good their football team is currently or formally. I'm talking about the ability to "move the needle" or draw eyeballs.

And last I saw, that number of 30 is the number to athletic programs that operate in the black or don't need subsidizing.

We are speaking the same language.

When Ohio State plays Illinois, the national eyeballs are drawn to the broadcast because one of the two teams is Ohio State, not Illinois. Illinois versus Indiana doesn't draw near as many.

When Vanderbilt plays Alabalma, the national eyeballs are drawn to it because of Alabama, not Vanderbilt. And Vandy versus Kentucky won't draw as many.

And when Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M, Florida, Auburn, etc. are playing games against Oklahoma and Texas the cash register will be ringing like crazy. The disparity between programs like these and the average Big XII team (for instance) will just keep getting wider and wider and wider. I think it's inevitable that even the SEC will jettison some weaker programs at some point to bring in stronger programs and keep the money flowing even stronger.

Agreed. That’s why I don’t think super conferences are inevitable

That’s the point. Alabama and Ohio State aren’t the same as Vandy or Illinois. That’s why conferences, as a whole, may not survive this.
