TV Series Ozark

The season was written as if it had a much longer time to get everything out, then was abruptly canceled and are now forcing as much out as possible. I suspect many more will die in the remaining episodes.

Right now I am leaning toward an ending that either has the Byrds working for the FBI. Or Marty and Wendy dead with Jonah and maybe Ruth working for the FBI. Though i am suspecting that Ruth will die too coming up. Either way, the pacing is insane here, too much happening too quickly with little time to adjust. Javi is a clichéd character, just come in, trust no one (including family), be ruthless, and take over. Poor writing for an otherwise forgettable and worthless character to a pretty good show.

Just finished part 1 of season 4 last night. Yeah, I don't know up until they were put on pause if they thought and were planning on this thing going 6-7 seasons, but as I now wait for part 2, I have no idea how they are going to wrap all the current storylines up within 7 episodes. But then I read somewhere where the plan was this many seasons as they did not want to over do it.

But I agree, so much still going on, I don't see how they can wrap it up. **SPOILER ALERT** The first sign of this type of writing was I found it odd when the FBI goes against their deal with Navarro and suddenly he's now facing a deal of 5 years to work with them. This guy has been ruthless all series, he's determined to get what he wants, including this sweet deal he wanted the Byrd's to get him, all along the Byrd's lives are on the line if they even look at him wrong, then all of a sudden he's stuck with a 5 year deal and then next thing you know he's in prison and he seems content with all this? IMO, with the way the part 1 ended, and if they end up writing off Wendy and Marty, they should've had Navarro knock them off somehow immediately following the bad deal. Then the final 7 episodes of part 2 are about the kids and Ruth.

I mean, I get why not writing off your two main stars with 7 episodes still to go, but I just found that whole reaction odd. Navarro seemed unphased by it, and the Byrd's sat in that abandoned shopping mall completely relaxed like they had done it and they were finally out. What!?!? You just royally screwed Navarro, didn't come anywhere close to what his demands were, and 40 minutes ago if someone he wanted to talk to wasn't at a certain location your lives were on the line.

I'd fuck the frown off of Ruth's face.

Her dumper is spectacular.
Didn't realize you guys were into Timberlake like that

Final episodes dropped this weekend. Just watched one so far and it's wasting no time.

What a disappointing ending. I expected some characters to die to tie up loose ends, but what a weak way to send it off.

There wasn’t enough death for you?

Someone literally dies almost every episode.

They had to leave it open in case they want to revisit but did a decent job of closing out this arch and if they don’t do more we are fine.

My issue wasnt the literal ending. I watch enough tv and have enough of a creative mind(so I like to think) that I can use my imagination on finales that are a bit open ended. For example, to me Jonah shot that jar and that Moron Mel was neutralized. No issues for me on the ending itself with any of the storylines.

My biggest problem on why I think Ozark was just a ok or passable ending was that most of the last 6 episodes post Javi were a slog. Not much happened, it was basically spending 6 episodes of finding a way out with minimal suspens. The father/mel which were a complete dud of a storyline.

The tension in the finale really ramped up in the final 15 when Marty and Wendy knew their hands were tied. But that was really it. And then it was done. So its a bit annoying when something is both open ended and there was 4 episodes of fluff. Its almost contradictory.

And the Ep 1 car crash tease?? Talk about anti climatic. I wasn't expecting casualties but jeez it was quite literally a bump in the road 13.5 episodes later. Zero adversity, they just all get a ride home and go inside the house.

Still can't decide on whether or not he shot the goat jar or Mel.....

The thing about the car crash is that scene was in your mind the whole season so it served to build drama. The fact that it was anti-climatic isn't the point because it served its purpose. On Jonah, I think he totally shot Mel as that gun was absolutely loaded with defense loads and it would have made swiss cheese of him. The final episodes were really about bringing Wendy full circle and showing what a complete screw-up she is and pain in Marty's ass. We knew it but it was unspoken until Marty said he couldn't win and he couldn't control her and the kids came on board validating it. The fact that Marty stayed with her in a weird way completed their love story as well. All of that was needed as it completed the characters. This is my favorite show that has been on Netflix and I just wish there were more of this caliber.

That's not what I said. I expected people to die to tie up loose ends, but it seems like they rushed the final half of the season with no substance. Like @Mr.Hockey said, the Wendy's dad taking the kids was a dumb filler story just to fill the episodes, then the kids had a change of heart due to the car wreck? And no one got hurt in the car wreck? Sam getting baptized? What was the point of that?

You guys need to learn to hide spoilers.

The dad thing was to put pressure on Wendy, expose her weaknesses and show why she is what she is. The last act was all about Wendy.

Sam’s small story was just to give him some type of send off and conclusion.

No such thing as spoilers when all eps have aired. People shouldnt read this thread 5 days late if they havent finished.

Anyways, if Jonah shot the guy(luckily its ambiguous so I dont need to think so) then its a brutal ending for him. Goes 100% against where his character has come to. Hes smart and he will still protect the family by destroying the evidence, but he aint shooting a guy in cold blood for a mother he wants far away from.

Everything else you said, I completely understood what they were going for. Just again, the issue was getting there. It took 4 episodes of basically nothing to get to the conclusion. And really I wasnt anxiously waiting for the car wreck, since I knew they werent killing the family in it. Was still just a dumb resolution.

It is a very good show still, just a meh ending. TOp of the line at netflix(not saying much though) but doesnt not crack my top 10 all time thats forsure.

We will just have to disagree on the ending. It was a shotgun and there is no way under their circumstances that wasn't loaded with defense loads and there is no way to just shoot a jar a dude is holding close to his body without making him swiss cheese.

As for Netflix they've had some good shows:

- House of Cards (fantastic but tailed off at the end)
- Altered Carbon (first season was fantastic)
- Orange is the New Black (can't help it I loved that show)
- Witcher is good
- Lost In Space (I could be alone but i like this one)
- Stranger Things
- Umbrella Academy
- Narcos
- Cobra Kai
- Bloodline (first two seasons couldn't finish the third)
- Last Kingdom
- Vikings Valhalla
- The Crown
- Queens Gambit
- Shadow and Bone
- Last Chance U

The problem is there are too many lags between good shows so you can go months without a good one running.

Too episodes in and who the fuck is this red hair kid at the trailers? Is he some youngest brother that just wasn't featured much but now is getting air time?
