Arch Manning news ...

We are talking Ewers leaving early, not Manning. Ewers skipped his senior year of high school to make money, he's not staying in college if he can get to the NFL. If he can't get to the NFL, he's not competition for Manning if Manning is as advertised.

I could actually see Manning stay all 4 years ... family has money, he has stated he wants to enjoy his college experience (you know everyone around him in his family did), and he could chase a natty no one else got.
Ahh my mistake. Thanks for the correction. I couldn’t keep reading ElDunce’s posts.

Some notes from our Surly insider;
Bama:

-This landscape is not attractive to Saban and he's not going to wind up with an outright competitive advantage against the market when it comes to money and recruiting, which he's had for 15 years. The dude is getting old. There's a shot that this is his big run and when he wins it all again, he's out.

-Bama was the perfect choice for the Mannings. Archie Manning views Bama as a no brainer. Rumor is that Saban would not give assurances that he'll still be coaching Bama in 2025.

Regarding Manning, some things to consider:

-He hasn't committed yet because he's got concerns about the competitiveness of where he wants to go. If he wanted to go to Georgia, he'd have gone to Georgia already. There are family members who think that's the best choice.

-He's going to have insane alumni and corporate NIL deals wherever he goes so that's actually a completely irrelevant issue now. Everyone thought it mattered, but everyone underestimated the depth of $$ interest in NIL for the big name players.

-If Texas lands Addison, it sends the best signal yet that Texas will do whatever it can to land whoever it needs to land in order for the team to have all of the weapons a QB could need.

Explain where I am wrong, troll. You can't. Damn 3rd graders.
To start you aren’t a fan of cheer jerseys so that is a mark against you. Secondly your team has actually done something within the last decade so that is problematic.

Third you have the audacity to actually support your head coach which is just crazy talk.

Therefore in @ELTEXAN world you are bat shit crazy.

I’m not sure how it works, but couldn’t he be shopping around to see who will give him the biggest deal? This will be a record NIL.

He has plans to visit other schools too, and they could wave around even more cash.

Saw a Texas 247 article that basically said he is pushing his decision to fall. The main reason is that he wants to see what Texas does this year. I read that to mean that if Texas plays really well you have a good shot. If you don't he's headed to UGA. I think Bama is out and they have move on to other QBs.

I just don't see NIL being an issue. Everyone involved will give him plenty. Dude's family flies private ... even though it isn't his money, he's set for life already.

the guy said that the 3 mil number isn't real.. it's not even 2 mil, but he did say that Bama thought that with 1 mil it would have wrapped it up.. and it's not.

What really helps Bama is having the returning Heisman QB throwing him balls

*My bad thought you were talking about Addison, not Arch

4 years of eligibility, 2 years before he can go to the NFL. If he does decent he will go to the NFL ASAP. That's dawggys point, not how long the mullet could stay in college. The kid wants the biggest stage as fast as he can. If the NFL is an option and there is 1st round chatter, he gone as soon as he can.
If he was willing to give up his senior season for the Dragons in order to take the money, he'll damn sure jump at the NFL chance if/when it comes.

I think we are doing better than A&M and most others.

Guess you missed the "after expenses" part or skipped that A&M continues to spend hundreds of millions upgrading facilities? Can you find a list of revenues from football to make it a more even comparison?

OB is hearing that there will be some huge commitments in the middle of June.. insinuating Arch and Cook (#1 WR in TX)

Down to UGA and Tejas. Holstein to Bama today.

Why not both? A year at Georgia transfer to Texas for real money.
as long as everyone blames aggy, and let's UT fly under the radar

He's going to Texas or Bama and NIL doesn't matter because he's getting paid regardless of where he is going and gas the means that it wasn't an issue to begin with.

Personally if I'm that kid I'm going to whoever I'm a fan of. Grandpa went to Ole Miss and his uncles went to there and Tennessee but Grandpa played in New Orleans so LSU might be some place he rooted for. You could give a maybe to OU because I could see him spending a lot of time with Lebby thinking he's headed to Mississippi only to see him move on and he thinks he could be a guy to get him to the next level. But he's Trevor Lawrence only with NFL GM's knowing he has an insane pedigree so the kid could say fuck it I'm taking my talents to Oregon State and he's going to go top 5 the minute he is eligible.

He doesn't need the money right now and whatever his decision is he's going to attract talent to maximize his potential in college and 3 years later he's going to be the face of an NFL franchise. He needs to go where he wants to go. And honestly neither of his supposed top 2 choices make sense.

Let's see ... his top 2 choices are Texas and UGA. Bama just got a commitment from the no. 54 player in the nation, a QB. They aren't taking him and Manning. LSU and OU aren't even in the conversation, and they knew Lebby from his Ole Miss days.

Texas makes sense if you see who Sark has put in the league. That said, they won't be in the SEC until 2025 and there is no guarantee that Sark will still be the coach when he gets there. Even then, not likely to compete for championships. Austin isn't the prototypical college town, but it is still a nice college environment.

UGA makes sense because they have a dynamic OC, a stable coaching environment, and Arch has been open that he really likes Athens as a college town. He will have all the talent he needs on both sides of the ball. What UGA lacks is a history of top QBs going to the NFL. They have good college QBs with Greene, Shockley, Murray, and Fromm but only Stafford has excelled in the NFL.

Bama makes sense because they are Bama. Satan, a long string of college QBs getting into the league, and plenty of talent around him. They obviously play for championships.

All three have plenty of quality QBs in front of him. He won't be getting immediate PT at any of the three, and I don't think that is a problem for him. I wouldn't be surprised to see him stay wherever he ends up for 4 years and enjoys the college experience.
