GAME #1 OREGON DUCKS vs uw fuskies 7:30pm ET on NBC

It's due to the NIL and portal situation where teams no longer have top flight kids in waiting. The depth is getting eroded while the second tier teams do get some benefit of being able to pay a few of those kids that would be on top team benches to give them an option to play now.

That means the teams that had that solid next man up for injuries power is in decline.

And kids jumping teams year after year gives less time working within a system to master it. It's just not quite as polished.

The ducks are for sure going to be at the top of this current system because they have a massive donor willing to spend whatever it takes to get the talent.

Plenty of teams have depth. Oregon is one of them

Not as much as they did before the portal and NIL poured gas on it.

You can't both claim there is more parity and top teams still have major talent depth. Those rising teams took that talent.

The rising teams didn’t take from the haves. They took from the have nots

There was so much talent on lower teams that stealing just them put the mid tier teams on the level of the top tier to create parity?

Yeah, that's not really a thing.

Oregon took Harmon and Caldwell from Michigan State and Houston. They took Brandon Johnson from Duke. They took Muhammed from Washington.

Yeah, that's helped their defense a lot.

Right. That explains why Oregon is ranked #1. Now do the rest of what was the top tier and look at how they are doing now vs 3-4 years ago.

The new 'haves' will be those that can buy the fuck out of everything in the store. The blue bloods that do not have stupid money to throw at kids will still get high value targets, but won't have the kids behind them. That is why the top football looks down and losses are mounting.

This is playing out big time this year.

Losses are mounting because of conference consolidation. The SEC and to a lesser extent, the Big Ten, are playing tougher schedules as a whole than ever before. People have interpreted that as "college football being down". It's just the new reality of the P2 world.

For example, I don't think UGA is really "down" compared to last year. They just played a much tougher schedule.

That was big time trending last night. It's straight up weird to share how much your rival is in your head.

Wait...you guys think he was serious?

BAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHA

Lol he's trolling you guys

It's ok, it's hard to read sarcasm when it's in print.

I do love a dry sense of humor. We haven't seen that in Eugene since Chip.

If you really think Dan spends every second thinking about a 6-6 (4-5) team, I got some beach front property in Arizona to sell you.
He's just trolling guys, and must be defended from anyone who thinks it's funny.

Probably refreshing to have someone express their true feelings too.

He already did that when he turned down Alabama. Sorry about how that turned out.

Good news though, it doesn't look like Florida is firing Napier after all. Coach Fisch may stick around a few more years.
