Tennessee still has a good shot to make the playoffs IMO
There’s no chance of ND or a G5 team getting in. The ACC is out, if Oregon wins the Pac, Tennessee had a far better showing than they did against UGA.
Might need a little help, but it’s not all that improbable. Just need TCU to drop a game and the OSU-Michigan game to be a blowout either way
Yeah, I think UGA is the better team and it played out that way but Tennessee really didn't have a good showing. Everything was against us (especially in the 1st quarter).
Probably what was most impressive of Georgia was the second half in hind sight. Our defense was getting the ball back to us and our offense had a chance to rally and make it a game but Georgia keep coming up with stops. We shot ourselves in the foot with penalties, an offensive line that got wore out in the 4th quarter, and Hooker being out of his game.
Some of that was flat out just Georgia pressure both at the line and the secondary staying with their game.
The only "negative" thing about Georgia (and it really isn't negative) was that I thought I would see their TEs more active. It was Georgia's WR core that had the best game which was a surprise. Georgia ran the ball alright on us but they didn't really have a sustain rushing game. It was 130-94 in Georgia's favor so they won that game. The big win was the 257-195 passing advantage and that really only tells part of the story as it was even more lopsided in favor of Georgia passing if you watched the game.
Key plays were holding Tennessee to FG after the fumble on our first drive (two false starts hurt us)
The long pass play and catch in 1-on-1. I think that same drive was followed by the Stetson scramble which was, in my opinion, the play of the game on offense for Georgia.
The punt that got out at the 1.
Hooker's INT on the first possession in the second half when we were moving the ball.
We also had a 1st and goal in the second half that resulted in 10-15 yards of penalty on third down and put us out of scoring.
There are some people that would say "well if Tennessee hit those two long overthrows for TDs and not had critical penalties, they would have had 27 points". However, Football doesn't work that way because Georgia would have called plays to match.
I don't see Tennessee winning even if we got the brakes. Georgia just had this laser focus attention and a great game plan. It was just their day.
