12 Team CFP Autopsy

Just go to 16 already. That's where it's going to eventually go. 16 gets you no byes. The B1G and SEC get 4 autos each. The ACC and B12 get 2 autos each. Group of mid majors get 1. Leaving 3 autobids (most likely 2 as ND gets one of those) Giving potential (which will happen most years) for the B1G and SEC to get 5 teams in each.

First, get rid of auto byes. Give 'em to the top four rated teams period.

Then, play the first two rounds on campus. The top four teams should be rewarded with a home game the second round.

And don't let the Rose Bowl dictate when/where any game is played. Treat them like all the other bowls.

when y'all say automatic byes.. you mean automatic seeding, right?

Semantics I guess. Rank 'em regardless of conference and bracket it according to rankings. Don't move the lowest rated conference champions into the top four. If they need to move them up into the 10, 11, 12 like they did with ASU fine.

I believe you have mentioned this in other places, so I'll mention it here.

FUCK the rose bowl

and no reseeding

don’t take so many weeks off.

I’m fine with the byes if you win your conference, it needs to be worth something. I would be fine with getting rid of the conference championship games all together too.

Prolly going to 16. Money wins over quality. Look at the other 4 teams for this years 16 team field. Alabama, Miami, Ole Miss and S. Carolina. But the $ signs will win. If it eliminates the byes, then good. Byes don't belong in playoffs.

This is why ND tells everybody to go suck donkey dicks when questioned about conference membership.
Until the B1G and SEC team up to carve up the rules that requires B1G or SEC membership

The Big 2 does carry a big stick.
But when/if that happens they will expand both and ND will be front of the line for addition. At that point they would be dumb to decline.

Especially if the byes are cut out. ND is not eligible for a bye in this format, so some risk there but it worked out this year. If they change the format to no byes or just reseeding to AP poll you better believe there will be changes

Isn't that a contradiction?

I read it as if bye's go away then the conference title becomes pretty much worthless and if it is worthless then just do away with it.

How would they know who won the conference if there's a 2 way tie with no head-to-head?

Would it matter who won it? Just take the rankings and slot them into the bracket. If two teams are 10-2 and didn't go head to head then one of them is certainly going to have lost to someone worse or beat someone better at some point.

nOtrE dAmE MuSt jOiN a cONfeReNcE!

Nope.
What is ND, $22m a year in TV rights plus whatever bowl they make in any given year? Joining B1G or SEC would exceed that and guarantee more money.
