No one immediately open on 3rd down? Run for 5 yards. Call time out. But it’s Ehlinger making these decisions. So we were doomed.

Fake punt to give short field.
Not going for points to make 7 pt lead.
Multiple series with mostly passes.
then doesn’t have his dunce qb ready with correct options on final drive with time and yards scarce.

That is the problem. Sam is an imperfect QB, but a good college QB. For some reason Herman thinks he is capable of carrying a team on his back. It’s just poor coaching. Texas fans bash him mostly for the fact he isn’t Colt or Vince. Once again Sam was responsible for over 80% of the offensive yards. I am dying for a day when the HC doesn’t think the only way to beat a ranked team is have your QB be the leading passer and rusher in the game

Its unbelievable. Really. I'm guilty of putting too much stock in Herman's head coaching ability.

You have seen the RRS games. It’s pretty much always “Sam bail us out”. Herman always tries to out physical teams, but he never built an OLM capable of it. Only win vs OU was the game where Herman just kept running QB power with the occasional throw to a big WR.

I was able to see the last ten minutes of the game, still need to watch the rest but from the write ups.. seems like stopped running with Bijan after the first quarter, had Washington and Schooler out on that last 3rd down play. Hear about the fake punt but it was in a good spot to try that? Also we turtled into a FG early in the game around the GL, yet he decided to go for it on 4th down instead of taking the lead to 7 late? This is the Tom Herman era wrapped up in a game. Loves playing games that end up in one possession.

The back breaker was watching Bailey treat RT Jones like a speed bump on the last series. Jones has struggled all year vs decent pass rushers (ask Bonito from OU). ISU rushed 3 and got one of the best pass rushers in the Big 12 one on one vs one of the worst pass protectors, that is lack of understanding your own team and poor coaching.. To make it better while ISU is getting the match-up they want, Texas has Brewer, Washington, Schooler, and Rojo as part of their 5 wide in the final series. It’s your season and your job and Texas has 2 starters among the 5 eligible WRs and one is their blocking TE
