March Madnes 2021 NCAA Tournament

Two teams from Texas make the Final Four.

Don't think that has happened before.

Hope one of them win it. We're tired of having the only men's natty from this state. About time someone else wins one. Been a long dry streak since '66.

Phi Slamma Jamma should've won it.

Instead they gave Jim Valvano immortality.

1977 - UNC and Charlotte
1975 - Louisville and Kentucky
1962 - Ohio State and Cincinnati
1961 - Ohio State and Cincinnati
1960 - Ohio State and Cincinnati

Wow, Ohio State made three straight final fours? Cinci I get because they had Oscar Robertson around that time

I was alive for it, but I don't remember it. I would have been 6 or 7 years old

The big surprise for me was that Duke and UNC had only made it together once. I figured they would have done it a couple of times.

yeah, kinda shocked with as many FF appearances both of them have had. I guess they're getting bounced early a lot of times when the other one is making a deep run

yeah, and it's extremely hard to make the FF. UNC has the most Final Fours in NCAAT history and they've only made it 22ish times. Keep in mind, only conference champions made the NCAAT until 1975.

Osu cincy were ok in the 60s

Yeah, Houston's really been the only opportunity for a Texas school between '66 and 2019. Tech had a good chance two years ago but wasn't able to bring it home.

But the women have had six. Three for Baylor and one each for Texas, Texas Tech and Texas A&M.

Men's hoops in Texas needs to improve. But I shouldn't be talkin', my guys have literally sucked the past few years.

It's a long shot but USC and UCLA could join this list if they both pull off upsets tonight. It would also be the first time that we would have 4 teams from 2 states.

Hell, if USC and UCLA happened to pull off a couple of upsets we'll have two final four teams from the same city...much less the same state!

Slight correction: only conference TOURNAMENT champs made the NCAAT. Lots of instances where a league didn't even get to send their "best" team

that only happened in the ACC

only other conference that i can think that had a conference tournament during this era was the SoCon

Except the BIG
nah, the ACC was the only "power" league that had a conference tournament during this time

Big 8, SWC, Big Ten, SEC, Pac didn't have conference tournaments until the late 70s. Big East wasn't born until 1979.
