March Madnes 2021 NCAA Tournament

See, I was right. Only 3 B10 teams left....lol

The BIG has a lot of upper classmen but not much in terms of NBA ready talent. That said Illinois should've mud stomped Loyola. Ayo posting that kind of line in a tourney game is horrendous. Definitely not Evan Turner. Sorry I even made the comp.

I'm excitedto see what Michigan looks like next year with our incoming recruiting class.

Oral Roberts and Oregon State combined for EIGHT Q3/Q4 losses and both are in the S16. Unreal. Oregon State lost to fucking Portland. Almost literally the worst team in D1.

It's certainly not been one of the best first weekends I've ever seen, but we've had some good games.

The Loyola and Purdue games were both very good. And a number of other games have been entertaining though, the basketball has generally been bad.

Considering the circumstances though, and it looks like no bad news this morning yet, it's been great.

More of a statistical abberation. They've placed as many teams in the final 4 as anyone since 2000. They are definitely not earning kudos this tourney though
good enough make it, not good enough to win it all

fwiw, the Big Ten fans on reddit were unbearable before the NCAAT. The fans here were pretty cool. That's why the shit talking that is going on over there is next level.

Anyone with a grip on who these teams were should be able to see it was a wide open field past Gonzaga and maybe Baylor. I made the comment I didn't think OSU was a 2 seed in any other tournament in any other year.

As for BIG teams historically...you have a few that ran into buzzsaws (OSU against a loaded Florida in 07, Illinois against loaded UNC in 05, Wisky against two of the best recruiting classes ever in 15) and a few that shit the bed or played above their talent level to get there. The three teams above probably/possibly would've been the best team in a lot of years but ran into another all time team. Or even OSU 12 that even though they lost to Kansas would not have had shit on AD in 12.

TLDR I know but as I said a lot of factors to the why.

The dude loyola had on Kofi will be lucky to be playing in Estonia when his career is up. But as a team Loyola is solid. Just saying future pros came in with their head up their ass (Ayo) when they post 2 boards and 2 assists in a tourney game.

Perhaps people that think it should've been a lopsided win for IL should realize who they were playing. #1 D, #17 AP team, top 10 KenPom, so take that mud stomp and cram it hard, my man. Those orange cornfield assholes didn't lead once and were the ones that got stomped. I thought IL would win, to be fair to your point, but never thought it would be a blowout.

The best chance was the 2007 and 2011 Ohio State teams, given the combination of talent, experience, coach. You're right the 07 team ran into a buzzsaw in that Florida team, I don't know many people that thought OSU was going to win against them. The 2011 OSU team was by a pretty wide margin the best team in the country that year. It's still surprising it ended in the S16. All the MSU and Michigan teams that made the FF would have been a pretty big surprise had they won the whole thing.

I'd probably rate the following teams as the best chance:

2011 OSU
2005 Illinois
2007 OSU
2015 Wisconsin
2010 Purdue - really under the radar, but they were a top 4 team when Hummel tore his ACL.

Fuck 2015 Wisconsin....

Krutwig is going to make Lebron James look like a G-League player by the time he is done in the NBA.

I've got nothing against them long term but they ruined what would have been one of the best teams ever. Kentucky would have crushed Duke.

UK needed one guy to recruit and one to coach. Cal is a shitty coach.

Dont agree theyd have crushed Duke.

I do. While I respect the program, I do hope they lose basically every game. Mostly because of Davison. Before that, they were fine. The 2014/2015 teams were at least fun to watch.

Put this in OP as well
