2021 Overrated/Underrated Contest

I use the Massey composite but fully admit at the onset that it, itself is flawed.

Too much bleed-over from previous results/bias.

...but at this point of the season nothing is certain other than Alabama will skulldrag any team unfortunate enough to be found across the field.

Me picking #17 Indiana to be 'overrated' knowing they had to play Iowa, Cincy, Penn St, Ohio St, Michigan, a bowl, and not likely to be Top 20 with 4 losses seemed like a pretty good bet for up to 8 pts.

Me picking #21 Texas to be 'underrated' knowing they could still be in the Top 10 even with 4 losses seemed like a good bet for 10 plus points.

But I'm just 'GAMING' the system.

you picking Indiana at 17 is going to get you crushed in the final tally if 6TAMU falls out of the rankings. Even if Indiana loses every game.

You cannot even be this dumb. You just admitted you realize the incentive structure is to pick the highest ranking team to fall out instead of “the most overrated team.”
You just claim the SPECIES (that particular team isn’t the one to fall out). That makes your argument… what’s the word??? SPECIOUS.

Was someone preventing me from picking A&M for a potential 19 points?

Got news for ya, 'dunce'. A&M is SEC and they're another that could end up Top 10 with 4 losses.
Do you see a sure 5 losses for A&M on their schedule that would drop them out of the rankings?

Did I take into consideration how the polls work and the inherent SEC bias? Yup

You let emotion guide your A&M pick with some added ignorance with how the polls work to go along with it.

but the rules incentivize picking the highest ranked team that will fall with a cap of 26.
THOSE ARE NOT THE SAME THING.

NOW FOR THE TWELFH TIME:

TeamA starts at 5 and loses four games and falls to 23.
TeamB starts at 15 and loses every game.

Which was the more overrated team? TEAMB BY FAR.

This contest is going to give 18 points to the guy who guessed TeamA and only 11 to the guesser of TeamB.

For the TWELTH time now, do you understand?!?

We both looked at the same AP Top 25 when we made our picks. We took our own variables into account. That's how this thing works.

It would likely take 5 losses for A&M to drop out of the Final Top 20. Likely 6 losses to drop out of the Final Top 25.

Where do you see 5 or 6 losses here?

We'll await your sage insight.
