2021 Overrated/Underrated Contest

Yes. That’s what those dunces are arguing. Instead of making salient counterpoints, they say things like:
- it’s the way it is
- it isn’t gonna change
- make your own contest

the nannee nannee boo boo arguments

Hey dunce...

We both looked at the same AP Top 25 when we made our picks. We took our own variables into account. That's how this thing works.

It would likely take 5 losses for A&M to drop out of the Final Top 20. Likely 6 losses to drop out of the Final Top 25.

Where do you see 5 or 6 losses here?

We'll await your sage insight.

You’re again making a specious argument instead of arguing the point. You cannot be this stupid.

You are literally the only one crying about the format and the wording of said contest. Literally the only one.

And that makes me wrong how?
So you’d like to add to the “nod at your boyfriends for approval” type arguments. I hoped better for you.

plus, the current format potentially helps me even though I made my choice before knowing what the tabulation rules were going to be.

Did I say it makes you wrong? It makes you look like a petulant child that wants to take his ball and go home.

I had hoped you were better then this but I was only fooling myself thinking that.

No. I’m arguing salient points, exclusively. Y’all are the ones making the TAKE THE BALL AND GO HOME ARGUMENTS.
Eg, “well, if you don’t like it, make your own.” “It’s this way; not gonna change.”
“You’re the only one saying stuff like this” etc.

How can my argument be 'wrong' when we're only in week 1?

I didn't use emotions to make my picks, you did. That is clearly evident in that I took #21 Texas as being 'underrated'.

I would take sound reasoning over emotions any day.

Newsflash, dunce.

Nobody who made picks is 'wrong' right now. Anyone picking Washington is certainly behind the curve, but not 'wrong' yet.

The only wrong is your temper tantrum about the rules of a contest that apply to everyone equally.

You still didn't answer my question.... Where do you see 4, 5, or even 6 losses on this schedule that would drop A&M to #15, #20, or even out of the Top 25?

I see one likely loss. That one would likely knock them out off the SEC CCG unless Bama loses 2 (impossible for a rematch).

Again, emotional sage. Where are 4, 5, or 6 losses?

Ready.... GO!!

I did use emotion for my picks. Our individual picks are not the issue. Do you need to google the term SPECIOUS ARGUMENT?

the issue is that the scoring structure in the overrated category doesn’t incentivize and reward guesses for “the most overrated team.”
it rewards guesses for “the highest ranked team that falls the most within a 26 point capped range.”

Those are not the same thing.

this is the thirteenth time I’ve explained this to you:

TeamA starts at 5, loses four games, and falls to 23.
TeamB starts at 12 and loses every game.
The obvious more overrated team was TeamB.
This currently structured contest is going to give 18 points to the person who guessed TeamA, and only 14 to the person who guessed TeamB.

do you need a 14th time to read the same exact thing before it sinks in?

That's because I'm not the one putting in the work to calculate the results.

Lazy MF'ers have no right to complain about shit that they're not willing to do themselves.
That's the way I was raised. How 'bout you?

I’m totally willing to do it. When did I say I wasn’t

Right on both bold counts.

Everybody is bound by the same AP Top 25 rules as spelled out in the OP.
That is how ANY legit contest works. The rules apply to everyone.
If the rules didn't apply to everyone THEN someone could "Game" the system.

Do you really think you've got us all "Gamed" here by picking A&M?

El Texan peeks under his blindfold when his boyfriend's giving him a hummer.

That's my 'specious argument' for the day.

I will. Sure. That still doesn’t fix THIS thread.

Is there some rule that we can't have two similar contests?

Contest 1) Within the rankings framework of the AP Top 25. i.e This one
Contest 2) Within the ranking framework of your choice. i.e. Your contest

Seems pretty simple to me.

Get busy!!!

No. One is just dumb and internally inconsistent. The other does what the first purports to do. As shown demonstrably more than a dozen times.

don’t need to get busy. I’ll just take the guesses and apply some comprehensive end of the year ranking when the time comes

I await your contest and will certainly join.

After Week 1 we'll all certainly have a lil' more insight into the rest of the season (or will we?).

What poll will you use to determine #40 and lower? You certainly seem to have all the flaws figured out, and for that I'm very proud of you.
