2022/23 PAC-12 Power Rankings (Week 5)

neither we apparently are basing THIS years rankings on LAST years results.
I'm honestly not.

I can explain my reasoning behind ranking Utah ahead of Oregon, but it's mostly done on eye test.

I still think Utah should have won at Florida, and were VERY unlucky to leave Gainesville with a loss. If they had won, I'd probably still have them at the #3, just based on how they've played in other games.

I was somewhat high on Oregon starting the year, but my big question is Bo Nix. I watch a lot of SEC, and I saw him at Auburn, and he is the same at Oregon. Great one week, mediocre the next, and then horrid the next. It's his cycle of play that makes me hesitant to put Oregon higher.

Bo was awful against an elite defense in UGA. But that is what it is. Since then Bo has had a QBR of over 90 twice, against EWU and BYU. And while he wasn't awful against Wazzu by any means, he also wasn't that impressive against a really bad Stanford team.

This upcoming weekend I'll watch Bo more closely than I have this year as they travel to the Tucson, but if he can continue to keep the mistakes to a minimum, and not let them snowball, then I could certainly see Oregon as #2 or higher come the end of the year.

Oregon got destroyed 49-3 by a team that played a close one to Missouri, who got destroyed by Kansas St, who lost to Tulane.

Florida trailed Utah with under two minutes to play and won by 3 pts.

That's THIS year.

If last seasons Utah/Oregon games had even been somewhat close you'd have a bit of an argument, but they weren't.
Utah spanked that duck ass twice.
who beat who beat who beat who? the transitive property does not work in sports.

2016 Clemson won the NC but lost to Pitt who lost to VT who lost to GT who lost to North Carolina who lost to Duke who lost to Northwestern who lost to FCS Illinois State therefore by your logic Illinois State is the 2016 National Champion right?

I'm not going to take the time to look.

Did any of those lose 49-3 (like Oregon to Georgia) or 40-12 (like Missouri to Kansas St)?

you mean this week against stanford with a 55% completion but still a 75 QBR? his 6 rushes for 141 and 2 TDs kinda helped even things out. in all the SEC Days he never ran like that

doesnt matter transitive property is all that matters becuase who beat who never loops back around. and since Team A beat team B and Team B beat team C that means A cant ever lose to C. never happens not even a little.

49-3 is an egregious "off week"

That's an ass kicking both offensively and defensively.

We were told Lanning knew Georgia like the back of his hand and that was Oregon's advantage, were we not?
you were told by OD. thats like getting your facts from wikipedia.

Says we can't use last year's results.

Injects results from 7 years ago.

LMFAO!!!

well it was a commentary on using the transitive argument more than anything but ok

I mean obviously there is no champion this year yet so cant do that.
should i do last year? UGA champion lost to bama lost to A&M lost to miss st lost to memphis lost to Temple lost to Tulsa lost to FCS UC Davis.

There's a difference.

Georgia won their do-over.

Oregon lost their do-over by 28 pts.

There are things you miss in the scenario village called Eugene.

Yeah, and even after I posted this, I realized one small, yet important issue.

If Oregon wants to dominate this weekend, they just need to run the ball 50 times. We can't stop the run to save our lives.

again an OD thing not a me thing not an every duck fan thing.
do overs dont matter because the who beat who matters. transitive property and such. i dont make the rules you did

Do-overs matter when the two teams are close in quality.

The team that lost the first game has film to look at to see how they got beat and make adjustments. The team that won the first match tends to do what worked the first time.

The Oregon/@Utah first game was 38-7 (31 pts) Utah. We were told that on a neutral field things were gonna be different.

The do-over was 38-10 (28 pts) Utah.

Utah and Oregon were nowhere near close.

I'm doing it based solely on how good I think the teams are today, based on performances and with hint of potential since PAC 12 play just started.

If that’s the case:

1) Utah
2) Oregon
3) USC
4) UCLA
5) Washington
6) Oregon State
7) Washington State
8) California
9) Stanford
10) Arizona
11) Arizona State
12) Colorado

You're delusional, but you do you.

A 1-3 Stanford has done NOTHING to prove they should be ahead of a 3-2 Arizona.

C'mon man.

Schedules aren’t the same. One played Cal and Colorado in conference play. The other played USC, UW and Oregon. If Stanford played Zona on a neutral field, I think Stanford wins.

My power ratings aren’t based on records. They’re based on who I think wins on a neutral field

Again, you do you on that.

Stanford offers nothing.

Zona might have the best WR core in the PAC. But sadly the teams don't play so we'll never know.

Stanford might have one of the best QBs in the conference…they have more than “nothing”.

Zona has some very good WRs and I like their QB. Just not sure their defense is going to stop anyone besides CU and maybe ASU.

I think USC has the best QB, and Stanford's is good, but it's not head and shoulders better than JDL, but our WR's are a lot more talented than what they have over there.

Our defense certainly needs work, but we are ranked 93rd in total defense, while Stanford is 110.

I know, I know...difference in opponents. But Cal and Miss State have a good offense, as does NDSU. Colorado is just shit.

These next 5 games for Arizona will really be a proving ground. I'd be happy with 3 wins all year, so I'm not expecting much, but picking off ONE of these 5 would be great for the program.

Next 5 games for Zona:
vs. #12 Oregon
at #21 Washington
vs #6 USC
at #11 Utah
at #18 UCLA

Brutal.

you still talking about last years games with different players and different staff?
