2022/23 PAC-12 Power Rankings

I don't see a major difference in any of the 4 ranked teams in the PAC. Schedules favor USC and UW though. USC misses UO and UW out of the North. UW misses Utah and USC out of the South.

OSU, Wazzu and UCLA are all good enough to pull an upset if you aren't careful.

I haven't seen Cal this year but their offensive explosion vs. Arizona impressed.

Arizona, ASU, Stanford aren't good. Colorado is taking over for Kansas
I agree, and it's still early.

Cal is a well coached team, and still ahead of Arizona in terms of rebuilding. Cal could be undefeated but lost a late one to ND.

I think Washington at 1 from what I have seen
USC still hasnt done much for me to say clear cut. Rice? Bowling Green? no. beating stanford? Washington did it better. I dont know if they won at Oregon State as much as escaped.
when has Wazzu looked like the #2? when has Oregon?
1. Washington
2. USC
3. Oregon better wins than Utah
4. Utah
5. Wazzu could really flip Oregon State but Wazzu has the better OOC win
6. Oregon State
7. UCLA Play someone already
8. Cal
9. Az
10. Az State
11. Stan
12. Colorado

I could see Washington as #1, but right now, I am putting a lot of weight into potential, and USC has that on the offensive side of the ball.

Did they escape in Corvalis? No doubt...but OSU is a good team and will give a lot of teams trouble if they have to visit there.

At the end of the year, I think #1-3 will be between Washington, USC, and Utah. I just don't have faith in Bo Nix and that coaching staff long term, but they of course could find themselves up here as well.

Wazzu and OSU are going to beat some of the top PAC teams, no doubt about it.

UCLA is unknown, but also undefeated so...?

Bottom four is the bottom four. It'll be interesting to see how ASU rebounds after EMU and the firing of Herm.

I guess I missed the Bowling Green Game??? :headscratch:

Fresno State, we played, though...

BTW... "I dont know if they Oregon won at Oregon State WashSt as much as escaped."

Hard to say.

They were 9-4 in 2018, 4-8 in 2019, 4-2 in 2020, then 3-9 last year.

Stanford doesn't really care a lot about athletics and they seem to understand that their academic standards create obstacles that don't exist at other schools. So they are likely to be fairly patient, especially when you consider his past success there.

I think they likely keep him at least until the end of his contract. Problem is, I can't seem to find anything that shows when his contract ends.
Their team right now has a class average of 23rd according to: (What happened to Stanford football? How do we fix it?)

Makes you wonder if the coaching staff is able to develop talent

Love that ASU has staff leaking game plans to opposing coaches and we are not bottom of the rankings :hammer:

I would agree with OP with the exception of having Stanford over Arizona State.

my bad got them mixed with UCLA for a second there. even still Fresno is still a Mountain West team with 2 losses already. better than Bowling Green but by how much?

Bowling Green lost to FCS Eastern Kentucky. They also have not won more than 4 games in a season since 2015. Fresno State is at least a respectable program who puts up a fight

Fresno's 2 losses are to Oregon St. by a field goal and to USC. They are a good bit better than Bowling Green.

A good amount of people don't seem to understand that all G5 program's aren't created equal.
trust me i know. but i also know that it was only 2019 when Fresno was a 4-8 team who got a new coach, flipped the program and left. So yes probably on avg Fresno has more good years than Bowling Green.
with their QB questionable Fresno might not be as good this year

You'd think they would considering the upsets we've seen over the past several years. One of the things Fresno St. prides itself on is upsetting and throwing scares into bigger programs.

During the Pete Carroll era, they went to the Coliseum and if not for Reggie Bush playing what may have been the best game of his career, would have beaten a #1 ranked USC. I think the final score was 45-42. I watched that one with a friend and after the game we both said "they can feel free to never schedule that team again". lol

also Oregon has played both BG and Fresno in the last 5 or so years so i well aware of both.

It's actually statistically harder to go winless for a full season than it is to go lossless. UW is the only team that has managed to do it. None of those awful WSU teams over the years. None of the bad beav teams. Those terrible zona squads.

I mean I get it, they look really bad, but it's very hard to not get a win somewhere.
...and how many of those Huskies went on to play in the NFL?

Such bad coaching and everything else beyond the players.

What is this trash? And who is "we"? Having washington ranked that high in these conference power rankings is silly, they haven't played anyone. People are too high up on the pups and the beavers. I'm not even sold on USC after seeing their escape vs oregon state. Utah may be legit, but I am still not impressed. But let's make the rankings more like this.

Oregon
Utah
USC
UCLA
Washington
Oregon State
Washington State
CAL
Arizona
Stanford
Arizona State
Colorado

You must have not been paying attention to Oregon's escape against Washington State

What has Oregon done that is so impressive?

They absolutely escaped against a Wazzu team that you have ranked 7th in this conference, got embarrassed by UGA, beat a BYU team that was going on a ranked back-to-back, and beat Eastern Washington.

Well then you should know that Fresno is quite a bit better than Bowling Green
like i said, typically yes but they are only a couple years from not being good. and their coach that got them up again left.
