Nebraska Cornhuskers 2023/2024 Nebrasketball

We will get 2 more the rest do the season

We need to beat northwestern and Michigan on the road and win out home games

Probably a better chance of winning @ Ohio St on 2/29 than Northwestern. IMO.

Northwestern's (5-0) at home with wins over Purdue, Michigan St, Maryland, Illinois, and Ohio St.

I want the NW game because of the standings. I don’t expect we are favorites there

ESPN doesn’t have a betting line yet but gives northwestern a 68% chance of winning

Should be in

i

Illinois Fighting Illini
Terrence Shannon Jr. was suspended by the university in late December after he was arrested on a felony rape charge for an alleged September incident in Lawrence, Kansas. Shannon posted bail, went to court and in late January secured an injunction from a U.S. District Court judge resulting in his reinstatement. For the time being, he is playing. Momentarily setting aside things that matter for those that ultimately don't, Illinois was notably similar in its basketball performance before, during and after Shannon's absence. The Illini are 17-5 and looking like a No. 4 seed. (updated Feb. 6)

i

Northwestern Wildcats
A team that's being outscored in conference play doesn't ordinarily start February in the lofty precincts of "Should be in." Well, Northwestern isn't ordinary. Boo Buie is hitting 47% of his 3-pointers against the Big Ten, and the Wildcats own wins over Purdue, Illinois and Michigan State, as well as one over Dayton. As for being outscored in league play, that's largely the product of one 30-point defeat on the road to the Fighting Illini. Still, while we're speaking of not being ordinary, Northwestern also shows a rather infamous loss at home to Chicago State on its profile. This is a wild body of work, one that for now is netting out to a projected No. 9 seed. (updated Feb. 6)

Work to do

i

Michigan State Spartans
Tom Izzo's team has for the most part been taking care of business for the past few weeks, sweeping Maryland and winning home games over Rutgers, Minnesota and Michigan. Then again, in this otherwise quiet portion of the schedule, the Spartans also went to Wisconsin and came up short by 15. Ranked in the top five by the AP in the preseason, Michigan State appears to have found a stable floor in the mock brackets for now as a projected No. 9 seed. (updated Feb. 6)

i

Nebraska Cornhuskers
Home wins over Purdue (by 16!) and Wisconsin hold the promise of ushering Nebraska into the field of 68 if the Cornhuskers can take care of business the rest of the way. At 16-7, Fred Hoiberg's group has studiously avoided bad losses and continues to score about as many points as it allows in Big Ten play. That should get the job done. For now, Nebraska is showing up in mock brackets as a No. 10 seed. (updated Feb. 6)

Does Northwestern sell out that high school gymnasium?

Same problems as always, turnovers and poor defensive rebounding have led to a lot of NW points. Poor offense with long droughts and some questionable officiating.

At this point I would be shocked if they make the tourney. I would not be surprised at all if they shit the bed the rest of the way out and I'd even be willing to bet a loss to Michigan at home this weekend. It's almost like their psyche is on the brink of shattering.

With Penn St beating Iowa tonight, that drops the Huskers to 9th place in conference.

they’re better than everyone left on their schedule. Indiana, Ohio St and Michigan are the road games if they can’t figure it out and win 2 of those they don’t deserve more than the NIT. 100% on the coaching staff for not getting them in the right headspace.

Going to the game tonight. The only other 2 games I’ve attended at PBA (Minn in 2014 and Penn St last season) were wins that sparked a late season run.

Nice 29-3 Husker run
