2023 Recruiting Thread

my fellow posters in here that happen to follow that unfortunate school north of the red river..

It's the come to Jesus moment in the early stage of BV and his recruiting philosophy.

Cozart is on decommitment watch, he's heading to visit Oregon this weekend. BV has a dumb stance on committed players visiting other schools. If you do it, they release you out of your commitment.. he is following Dabo's lead on that one.

Your OL/WR recruiting right now looks...unappealing. Gundy, Murray (who had a long time lean, commit, out the blue, to UT) and Bedenbaugh (considered one of the best OL coaches) seem to not have the same juice as when Riley was in town.

I get it, it's early, but summer is almost here.. y'all have faith this staff will pull it together?

Time will tell. It worked well for Dabo that's for sure.

“If you’re looking, we’re looking”.

That was Charlie Weis’s take on it. Freeman kinda has the same philosophy (although it largely depends on how coveted you are). When Rhett told ND he wanted to visit other schools they basically said see ya. It doesn’t mean he wouldn’t have decommitted anyway but it was much more if a mutual parting than most believe.

Now if Keon Keely tells the staff he’s taking an OV they may have indigestion over it but they’ll let a player of his caliber get away with it.

Time to just shut this thing down and commit #HookEm 🤘

Crystal Balls starting to come in for Cozart while he's currently in Eugene

This is what i was referring to earlier @Goldbug it's cool that the ou collective has Switzers face on it.. but it's still isn't close to what other schools are offering.. mix that with BVs no visit policy while committed.. and yikes

That's a bold strategy. It could backfire big time. Oklahoma can't afford to take a step back in recruiting as they prepare for transitioning into the SEC

not just that.. but BV staff sucks as recruiters.. DeMarco is celebrated because he said mean things about Riley when he took off.. but look at who he's brought..rather look at WHO HE LOST over the past cycles (including this one). Everyone loves Gundy but the hardcore ou fans on recruiting boards know he hasn't helped develop a legit WR1 since Lamb and the classes he brought in, underwhelmed with the expectations of their rankings.

Which brings me to Jay Valai.. lol if you think his recruiting is bad.. wait to you see how he coaches CBs.. Been down that road.. glad one year was enough at UT.. Bama fans saying the same thing.. but if you let ou twitter say it.. HE WAS A STEAL!! lol

Truthfully, I'd be concerned if Oklahoma didn't have Joe Castiglione as AD. But that guy is a seriously smart operator who, if you look at his track record, inevitably ends up filling an inside straight.......which means he's also a little bit lucky. OU will have the $$ to spend if/when it wants to spend it but listening to Venables on the recent football tour around the region leads one to believe they are waiting to see how the mop flops before they make any serious moves. The 2023 recruiting cycle is a long way from being finished. And there will be umpteen people playing footsie with the transfer portal over the next several months. Let's wait and see if OU either craps out or gets another Top Ten class in spite of the Muleshoe saga coupled with the NIL drama and transfer portal BS. Soooo much is riding on OU being competitive this season and Venables being able to fix a lot of problems. That's what most OU fans are most concerned about.
