Don't list the obvious teams that the media thinks will make the playoffs and things like that. How about college football related "stuff" you would bet the house on. Mine:
1. No matter what G5 game is on (looking at you MACtion), the 12 team playoff talk/interest will take over the commentary... by a lot.
2. Napier or Pittman will be gone after this season.
3. If Iowa's defense does the same, a bigger program or more will be throwing Iowa's DC a bone.

What ya got?

By the end of Sept the talking heads will STILL be talking about how Lincoln Riley has no defense and no desire for a defense. BY November he will be discussed as the next HC for the Cowboys....Dallas that is

…but Caleb is in Chicago?

And he will be on the Dallas sideline wearing a sweater around his waist like he just got his period.

I would be willing to bet the opposite. I don't think it'll be lights out but I think their defense will take a major step forward. Their new DC was at UCLA in 2023 and took them from one of the worst defenses in the P5 in 2022 to a top 15 unit overall in 2023. They allowed 100 fewer YPG and 11 fewer ppg, and I'd argue USC has more talent than UCLA to work with.

Look what Mike Stoops could do as his DC (not that Mike was as good as he used to be).

Look what Alex Grinch was able to do.

Until LR starts equalizing his talent intake he will never get there. I always thought, if anything, he could do with some degree of lesser-talent on the offensive side of the ball since he’s so good as an OC.

Lou Holtz fucked around and found out. It doesn't matter that he doesn't remember finding out or probably fucking around or how to properly use the bathroom

To be fair, Grinch was an absolute disgrace of a DC. I have no idea how he got the Oklahoma job, he was dogshit at OSU.

Stoops' defenses were bad his entire time at Oklahoma from 2012-2018, not just under LR.

Lynn is easily the best DC they've had at USC under LR, as well as any he had at Oklahoma. Like I said, I don't expect it to be elite necessarily, but I think it will definitely be good enough for them to compete on the national stage. I see them somewhere around 10-2 with their schedule this year.

Haven't looked at TOP but I'm assuming Iowa's defense would have been just about as good if their offense had been different. While it wasn't a high scoring/turn it over quickly offense, it still sucked and put the defense back on the field most without them scoring. Like a pitcher not getting any run support.

I've often said I'd hate to be a DC in today's day and age at a school with a quick strike offense and you aren't able to attract top end defensive talent. While USC can score they ain't one of those that can't get top end defensive talent and has no excuse for the pathetic defenses they've had.

There's definitely no excuse, LR's defensive coaching hires have been horrible up to this point. They might not have the defensive talent level of OSU or UGA, but they've definitely got some nice pieces.

Luckily for them they don't have to play OSU or Oregon during the regular season, who will probably have the top two offenses in the B1G. LSU has question marks everywhere, michigan and Washington have even more, which means ND will likely be the top offense they face all season (assuming PSU doesn't suddenly become a juggernaut).

Miami will pull out the the interception chain after getting an interception down by 4 scores in the 4th.

@OregonDucks will say Dillon Gabriel will have his Heisman moment while up by 5 TDs in 2nd quarter vs Idaho

Bama will get upset by a team like Vanderbilt and then dominate a top ranked team.

Iowa has an easy schedule (not playing Michigan, Oregon, or Penn State). Could very well have B1G's top defense and worst offense, and another Aussie punter. So, I am going to say Iowa wins 10 regular season games.

Iowa has 9 wins and a shot at B1G CG, Nebraska has 5 wins and a shot at going bowling.

Their offense can't possibly be worse than last year, right? I saw that the offensive guard they had playing QB for them last year just committed to Utah Tech (sounds like a made up college for a raunchy 2000s comedy starring Jason Biggs).
