2024 Natty discussion: tOSU vs ND

No matter what happens, it was an absolute pleasure watching the Vols come up to Columbus and get ass blasted
You're the reason people don't get excited at the prospect of Buckeye fans coming to their town. Fortunately, I met other Buckeye fans and former players who were gracious. Your assholeness isn't universal.

Tennessee fans travel in large numbers, are overwhelmingly good natured, spend freely, and so are welcomed everywhere we go. Likely, Columbus hadn't seen such a large contingent of visiting fans. The Columbus Chamber of Commerce, hoteliers, restauranteurs, city administration, and the Ohio State University itself want us to return. tOSU athletics is likely reaching out to UT athletics to begin negotiations of a home & away series.

Shut up Boomer

Only michigan fans will mention it. The rest of the country doeent care.
I’m not sure my attention is directed at the rest of the country. All that matters is that we’re in the head of Ohio state fans.

As the current national champion and with a 4-0 streak on Ohio state, what do you think im coping with?

Just here to state inconvenient facts. This Ohio state team will be remembered for being winless against Michigan. And it will be brought up any time this title run (should the win) is mentioned.
You can hide behind your blindness and it likely helps you sleep better, but I'm sure most Michigan fans are not enjoying watching their arch rivals head to the championship game with the fear of how that offseason is going to be insufferable if they win it all. Their rivalry win being entirely blunted and well overshadowed by a much bigger prize for their hated neighbors. All of the cache of that more minor game win tossed out.

It's going to SUCK for the non delusional among your fanbase.

My big question for ND is not really in coverage. Michigan and Texas were able to slow the offense down because they limited the run game with light boxes allowing them to run predominantly 2 high coverages (which will take away explosives). If ND has to bring a safety down to help with the run, that is going to open them up to big plays in the passing game.

Michigan and Texas also played zone coverages predominantly for most of the game.

NDs defensive backfield is very good but Texas had the Thorpe winner and the highest PFF graded safeties in college football. It's easier to blanket a great receiver with zone coverage bc it negates the impact of moving that receiver around pre-snap

I want them to lose every game. That said, I’m also enjoying ruining their title run because no matter what they say, I know (from personal experience losing to them) it bugs the shit out of them to have that blemish.

It will be a footnote, nothing more.
It won’t be and OSU fans know that. They’re already getting a taste of it; OSU wins a game to go to the national title and they’re being asked about the Michigan loss in the presser afterwords. It’s going to be brought up every single time it’s talked about. The same reason everyone from Ohio hates Herbstreit; his record vs UM.

2 years from now, no one will care outside of Ann Arbor.

Game news: Notre Dame starting left tackle Anthonie Knapp will miss the Jan. 20 College Football Playoff National Championship game against Ohio State with a high ankle sprain, coach Marcus Freeman said Sunday.

People in Columbus will. You win a national title in any sport for bragging rights. And they’re not going to have them over the one team they care most about.

Texas ran some man also, mostly in 2nd half (Texas was more aggressive in 2h). They would put Barron on Smith, Muhammad on Ebuka (sp?, brought in a 3rd CB to cover Tate., and NB went to the TE. That was mostly used with NASCAR package (pass rushing DL). You can run man. I wouldn’t major in it, because I don’t want to see man beaters (crossers and rubs). Key is still Cover 2 man vs Cover 1 man. Playing man underneath with 2 safeties over the top, should cap explosives. Teams that have limited the OSU offense have taken away the explosives (outside that fvcking screen). To me that is the #1 mission vs OSU. To do that you have pick your poison. You take explosives away, but make your front vulnerable to the run. Texas and Michigan held up fine with the light box. I don’t think ND can. That may force ND to get very aggressive. Live and die with blitzes and man coverage. It can work, I don’t think the OSU OL is great. I do think it will yield some big plays though. We shall see

Who's the refs for this game?

Cause if they call PI consistently then tOSU is gonna lose.
All I’ll say is it better not be the crew we had the last two games. They sucked.

Watts is better than anyone on TX. I said what I said.

Not surprised. He could barely walk even with a boot on. I think they’ll move Jagusah to LT which is where he was supposed to start before he was injured preseason. His injury is the only reason Knapp was there (but Knapp got noticeably better as the season. Went on). Tosh Baker, who came in for Knapp is a liability. Ohio State will eat him alive.

CFB is different. Ohio State fans so desperately want to see people wearing Michigan gear out in public and take shots at them. I lived it, for like 15 years. And there’s no way they do that irrelevant of how this plays out. They’ll still be sad every time they see a Michigan fan.
