I think the major difference is that there doesn’t seem to be many big names bolting around. Last year there were a few prospects that big teams were fighting forks Cam Ward. Biggest name this year might be Carson Beck? But there was mass change at huge programs last year too. 3/4 of the playoff teams last year lost their coach at the end of the

4 of the top 6 last year came from Bama (Downs, Proctor, Bond, Sayin) that coaching change had a huge effect on the portal

A&M (also a coaching change) had the other 2 in the top 6 (Nolen & Stewart)

Cam Ward was the #14th rated transfer.....Carson Beck is indeed #1 this year lol, that alone shows the huge difference in the portal classes.
