Series Thread 2024 NL Wild Card Round #6 NY Mets (89-73) at #3 Milwaukee Brewers (93-69)

Wonder if Mets fans are a little more open to re-signing Alonso now. They have been cussing him all season
I'm all for it. I can't understand the hate, dude has played well enough for me. It's not like this offense has depended on one or two guys, they've had contributions all up and down the lineup and the pitching just got better and better as the year progressed. He's a total good guy in the clubhouse and community, as well. Losing him would mean more than just his bat.

Plus, he's the kind of guy who would end up a total Met Killer if he signed anywhere else.

Whichever one was playing left field in game one cost the Brewers that game and Il tittle series
You talking about when Chourio had a liner go off his glove? The Brewers had quite a few misplays in the field that gave the Mets extra outs. Payamps couldn't cover first on an Iglesias grounder that lead to 5 runs in game one. Ortiz couldn't handle a grounder to 3rd that went for an infield single, but I can't recall if that lead to any runs (or which game it was).

The misplayed liner. That lead to a big inning. He made a great play the batter before IIRC

I can't recall if that lead to a bunch of runs. I remember him playing three balls in that inning, the first and last one he handled, but the second one he misjudged. I'm pretty sure when Payamps couldn't cover first, and Iglesias slid head-first into the bag, that lead to five runs being scored.

Chourio had a great series at the plate, though. I wouldn't blame him for the whole series loss

We’ve gotta build higher walls to keep them out.

I don't get too crazy with the "pitch tipping" stuff, but watching this video, the Mets weren't fooled at all last night by Williams. Good analysis of why.

That was Chourio. He also made a great play on a ball right before that. He's only 20 years old. He's already set a bunch of MLB records for "youngest to ever do X, Y and Z". He's on track to be a stud.

Yes that one misplay stung, but without him the Brewers would've lost the series anyway because his bat came up big in several big moments. He'll be reliable in the OF, not worried about that; even the most reliable fielders in history made a mistake here and there.

Andruw Jones pretty well set all the youngest play to do x in the playoffs records at 19

Man, I hate that you were on the losing side of that. Been on the short end of so many of those dramatic moments, myself.

I imagine it'll make their eventual defeat all the more bitter, so it's hard to even enjoy it.
Thanks man. Can't believe this team always finds a way to shit their pants in the post season.

I really feel for Uecker

They keep catching other teams who get hot at the right time, too.

Not sure why the baseball gods like teams like the Marlins who are penny-pinching garbage 9 years of every decade but then decide to spend a couple bucks one year and end up winning a Series before immediately selling everyone off and be garbage for another 9 years again. Meanwhile, the Brewers are built the right way, consistently competitive and fun to watch but just can't seem to get the baseball gods to smile on them.

It's because the Brewers are always beating up on God's favorite team.

The Reds :drool::biggrin:

DID YOU KNOW: that in the early 60's NYC talked to the owner of the Cincinnati Reds about relocating to NY? It almost happened. Instead, they just ripped off your mascot

The A’s damn near came to Atlanta instead of the Braves. How different history could have been. Glad it worked out the way it did
