2024 World Series: NY Yankees vs LA Dodgers

I said a few days ago this World Series has 2006 Rose Bowl, Texas vs USC, hype levels of grandeur.
Welpst, the first game certainly has delivered.

I'm barely watching. At the end of the thing, the winner is either the Yankees or Yankees West. Two of the most obnoxious fan bases in human history.

Freddie hits everybody doesn’t matter lefty or Righty. His biggest hit of his career before this one was a HR off of Prime Hader to win the NLDS. Dude is just a hitting machine to all fields.

I never understood why teams use to shift against him or why they try to do matchups with him. He just hits

While Freeman "hits everybody" he has been worse against LHPs, both this season and for his career. And you're not considering the pitcher here, Cortes also has a clear split that favours this move (once again both this season and for his career).

Mookie Betts is also a bit better against LHPs than RHPs but he's the only guy in this equation without a clear and significant split.

In simpler comparative terms for his career Freddie Freeman's numbers vs LHPs look like Michael Cuddyer's overall numbers and his numbers against RHPs look like Jeff Bagwell's overall numbers. Cuddyer was a good hitter but you'd definitely rather face him than Bagwell (especially if you're also getting the matchup that your pitcher prefers)

For another useful comparison Mookie Betts's career numbers vs LHPs look like Dick Allen's overall numbers. I think it's an easy/right decision that didn't work out. Good for Freddie.

I will also say…it hurts me that Freddie’s biggest hit of his career will be remembered in another uniform.

Both Gibby's and Freeman's game winners were at 8:37pm.
 
May need to place another bet on them Dodgers,
 
I could have done without the Icecube pre-game rap show but Dave Roberts and Magic seemed to enjoy it.
