2025 College Baseball thread

i'm not complaining but i do think its weird how Wake has really upped their recruiting in the past few years.

you'd think the current landscape would be pretty unkind to a school like Wake.
ACC schools to me are the 2nd best conference in baseball.. North Carolina/South Carolina/Virginia has a really really good pool of prospects..

Having success leads to better talent looking your way which can grow success. Wake has had good coaching and good facilities and in a good part of the country. With the PAC screwing up west coast baseball, ACC is going to benefit. There are some legit powers in there. With the reduced roster size I expect a lot more parity over the next 5-7 years (by then we will have more change to college sports I'm sure).

Per D1 baseball, top 10 transfer hitters this season:

1. Aiva Arquette, SS/2B (Washington to Oregon State)
2. Ethan Conrad, 1B (Marist to Wake Forest)
3. Wyatt Henseler, INF (Pennsylvania to Texas A&M)
4. Andrew Fischer, 3B (Ole Miss to Tennessee)]
5. Gavin Kash, UTL (Texas Tech to Texas A&M)
6. Gavin Kilen, INF (Louisville to Tennessee)
7. Easton Winfield, OF (UL Monroe to Texas)
8. Kane Kepley, OF (Liberty to North Carolina)
9. Daniel Dickinson, 2B (Utah Valley to LSU)
10. Blake Cyr, OF (Miami to Florida)

Read an interesting piece that is paywalled so I won't bother linking it, but it's about the Oregon State baseball schedule. Basically Washington St entered into an agreement for them to be part of the MWC for baseball but Oregon State figured they are a powerhouse baseball name and can go it alone as a true independent. Looking at their schedule they still have a pretty good looking resume. Playing early in the Karbach Classic in Houston (Houston, Virginia, Oklahoma, and Minnesota are their opponents), follow up with a tournament against Auburn, Baylor, and tOSU. Their "conference" part of the schedule has matchups with Nebraska, UC Irvine, Cal St Fullerton, UCLA, Oregon, and Long Beach state.

I'm sure it was a bitch putting it together, but that's a pretty decent schedule and I found it interesting they are going independent this season.

Good kid, good parents, good flip. It's mostly just a "look at me" commit, there is almost no chance he goes to school. There's a good chance he goes #1 overall and if not he will be top 5 for sure.

There is so much chatter out there, and complaining, about schools that have over-offered. Already the list of college baseball players "decommitting" from schools these last two days has been staggering. It's fall ball roster concerns and kids who had a spot but no longer do with 6 fewer spots from last spring, per team.

Just a few short weeks then we can get this foozeball nonsense out of the way and focus on a REAL SPORT!

The NCAA today put out guidelines on new "pitcher checks for sticky substances", similar to what the MLB does at specific times. If it ends up like the MLB, this could lead to more arm injuries and more hits/HR's in college. Spinning the ball less plus metal bats, and it could be an offensive onslaught of a season!

Surprised UGA is ranked so high to start the season after losing their two best hitters to the draft with all the pitching issues they had last season. I’m hoping that’s a sign they got a lot better in the pitching department and the offense will still be good

Yeah your coach knows how to recruit out of the portal and restocked pretty well. on the mound you got Brown from tOSU and Davis (bama) and Quinn (ole miss). You got a JUCO kid that will probably be touching 100 this season in Jordan Stephens.

You lost your top 3 hitters though, that will be the issue if the next man up doesn't come through. You got that kid from Kentucky, have to look up his name.

I watch the games, but I don’t keep up with recruiting or transfers at all, so good info
