2025 College Baseball thread

They don’t have high school baseball in Wyoming. I know this because Chip Caray would point it out every time the Braves played the Mets and Brandon Nimmo was at bat

I'm actually more surprised I didn't know that. I've been going to the CWS since I was a kid and to my recollection that topic has never come up in discussions. The old saying about going to a baseball game is "You better be sitting next to someone you like, because there's plenty of time to talk". Guess I've got some 'between innings' fodder for this year's CWS.

To add to that South Dakota doesn't have sanctioned high school baseball either and Montana just sanctioned it last year.
It looks like if a kid in Wyoming or S. Dakota wants to play baseball they have to play American Legion which is a summer league.
 
And no, I didn't miss the fact that Coach Cuck got walked off in his debut. :dhd:

Had college classes with Brandon Nimmo’s brother Bryce (played baseball for the Huskers). Actually had him in a group project one time.
 
After opening weekend, not too much shakeup. Michigan looks much better than expected. Arizona looked really bad.

Yeah Michigan had the best weekend (by far) for Big 10 teams. They opened the season (4-0) and built a damn good RPI resume doing it.

They beat #2 Virginia (5-4).
They beat Rice (5-2). Rice has been to the CWS 7 times with one winning it all. They've been to the NCAA Tournament 23 times.
They beat Villanova (19-0).
They beat Stetson (6-1). Stetson won a Regional in 2018, and have been to the NCAA Tournament 19 times.
 
Like someone said in the college basketball forum.... Conference Regular Season champions should get NCAA Tournament bids.

All-or-Nothing Conference Tournament Champion "auto-bids" leaves out some quality teams that could make some post season Cinderella runs.

That's going to get fixed, just not in one week when the voters are clearly mailing it in.
 
I'd bet the Omaha Mavericks fans that made the trek to Baton Rouge are getting the red carpet treatment.

Come to think of it the Nebraska fans are also in a 3 game series in Louisiana.

I've got a CWS Ragin' Cajuns shirt from years ago when they made it to Omaha. I always buy a Cinderella shirt.

OU beats #7 Oregon St and #2 Virginia this weekend to stay undefeated.

In fact it was a clean sweep for the Sooners with wins in...

That should be impossible. There’s more variance in baseball that the other ball sports. They should luck into a win every 10 games or so
