That’s why it’s a gamble. He could ball out next year be a top half of the first round pick(which is still a stupid spot to draft a RB, but teams still do it including mine), but he’s also one major injury away from dropping to 6th-UDFA status
There's a bigger difference between 1st rd money and 3rd rd money than between 3rd and 6th rd money.

At his best he's easily Gibbs, and is extremely close to the Bijan level.

Henderson is good, but he's got no shot to be a top 15 pick IMO. I don't even think he's at JK's level and he was only a 2nd rounder.

If I'm a top tier RB I want to be drafted in the 2nd round. Get to FA one year earlier. That 5th year option can be very lucrative but also can be the last year you play in the NFL.

Now THIS is one i'm kind of puzzled about. Chip was maybe in for a decent role next season. There have been rumors today that Henderson is going to return next year. Wonder if that smoke is real and this has to do with that. But this definitely opens up more for Hayden next year finally. Someone will get a decent grinder of a back out of this one.

That stinks, Chip ran the ball hard and filled in nicely when we were short on healthy backs. Best of luck to him wherever he goes!

come to Cbus!

Wonder how long it's gonna take for these NIL deals to start having clauses put into them where the player must stay a certain length of time or they don't get all their money/have to pay some of it back. Lots of guys jumping ship from the more NIL bag schools after 1 or 2 years.

i'm pretty sure they have something like that already written up since the guidelines say NIL can only be year by year..not multi-year basis

Paired with Vandagriff at QB. Kentucky could have an interesting offense next year

Chip is a nice back but IMO he's a guy where you need to have a more speed guy/receiving threat to rotate with him. He's not really a main guy every down back in this era. Not sure what else Kentucky has at RB.

Yep. They should also be performance based.

Many of these are money grabs.

It's not for lack of playing time, it's "Who's the highest bidder?"

He shouldn't be a top 15 pick, but neither should have Bijan or Gibbs. When fully healthy, he's on a special level.

You're not wrong about JK though, he was criminally underrated as a prospect. If he could stay healthy he'd be a top 3-5 back in the league.

I don't think it matters much anymore with RBs. None of them are getting massive second contracts after the debacles with Gurley/Zeke/Henry/etc. Look at JT's deal: 3/$42m, and his first contract wasn't even up so why not go for the higher AAV?

Eventually these people paying all the money out have to get tired of dishing out a ton to HS kids who either dont perform or leave after like a year. Right? I thought this would be starting to happen already though and it seems like they are just dishing out even more money. Lol.

I just don't think he's, as an overall RB, at their level. I think they're more versatile, which is why they were drafted where they were. Gibbs has been a beast this year.

I think Treyveon is more versatile than his stats suggest, Day's offense just doesn't throw to the RB much. He would probably thrive as a pass catcher in a offense that was willing to throw him the ball more.
