Ugly game. Shitty weather. Pac12 refs doing their derps.

It was about what I expected from the defense: Not very good early, but tightened up a lot as the game moved on. It was the first time the starters on D have played together since game 1. Several guys have been out most of the season, and their best run LB was on his first game since last year. The rust and assignments looked like a unit that hadn't played in a while.

There is no excuse for how many self inflicted wounds the offense had though. Sure, the weather is part of some of the bad throws or whatever, but penalties, unsportsman like, guys out of position, etc just can't happen at this stage of the year.

Before the season started I had them going 8-4 this year after going 4-8 last year and that feels about right. They can't play on the road, but they have Colorado left at home.

At least I only bet on UW straight up. Wasn't giving 4pts. :)
 
I called it a night after the punt return by UW early in the 2nd half with the Beavers clinging to a 14-7 lead.
I'm going to have to have a talk with Jonathan Smith about analytics.

Again, the Husky D was a bigger story than the final score showed.

Beavs moved the ball easily in the first quarter. Scored with little resistance to open, and then got deep twice coming up short on two 4th down plays. Sure, easy to say take the FG's, but they were moving easily up to that point. That first 4th down was one of the few plays the D stopped a run early. The second being a pass was probably a questionable call.

Outside of that UW held their offense to just 7 the rest of the way. Now, there were 2 plays in that second half where they threw a ball to a wide open receiver that missed the mark. That wind was really bad at that point. Missed explosive play chances. Still, that D did a much better job against that dangerous run game.

That civil war looks like it's going to be a hell of a game. Beavs are a tough out. Their secondary is legit.

I love what Smith is doing down there.

I had Oregon State ranked after a couple of early wins. I dropped them out but probably need to add them back. They are a good time.

I was just kidding around. Smith is doing a GREAT job!

I thought going for it the first time was the right move, but I would have kicked the FG the next time to go up 10-0. Not why they lost the game though.

Like you sid, the UW defense adjusted and earned that victory.
