25 Most Physical Teams

Not making any claims, but the bodies were flying during TCU TX this past Saturday

My thought is more the type of scheme they play. If that is the case, both Georgia and Michigan belong. I would call Michigan more "physical" based on its play style but that doesn't mean they are going to out physical Georgia.

One stat for why Georgia wouldn't be as "physical" from a playstyle perspective is the fact that Georgia often throws more than runs.

I wouldn't put Tennessee on the list even though part of a HUGE reason Heupel has been successful this year is Tennessee's line has held up well in every game with the exception of the Georgia game.

What physicality means to me is that a coach teaches a team to hit every chance they get, tackle through the player, destroy the other players, and use their hands explosively. UGA practices that way, even if we get a few practice injuries that could be avoided. If you don't practice it, you can't suddenly do it.

Look at the two videos above ... Travon Walker simply destroys the center. That happened all night long. Our guys know how to use their hands explosively. Since Smart started coaching UGA we are in the top for tackling, missed tackles (or lack thereof) every year. He recruits bigger CB and S and LBs that like to hit.

As for throwing more than we run, that's a new thing. We've always been a team that tries to establish dominance on the LOS.

Some think being physical only applies to the LOS. Those LBs/DBs that have high speed collisions are physical as hell. Down side is they sometimes focus too much on a big high speed collision and whiff on the tackle.
 
Cincinnati is too low.
 
That account is ludicrous with random rankings they put out. I don't follow it but it for whatever reason will pop up on my timeline and it is annoying.

I’d argue that Michigan State showed they are pretty physical in the tunnel after the Michigan game

I wold definitely put TCU on this list. They are dirty AF. But I guess pass-happy teams didn't get consideration
 
IMO, a physical team is one where a team can dominate them and the opponents are so sore the next day, they feel like they got dominated.
 
In summary though, these rankings are kind of dumb.
