GAME #4 Oregon @ WASHINGTON | 4:30 pacific | ABC

Nah, that writing has been on the wall for weeks, and probably was happening if he didn’t turn it around for the rivalry game regardless.
It was penned at least two weeks ago, but getting like 7 first downs that game ended it faster. He was a dead man walking. More has to be coming.

It has been Washington's offense that was shit and not the defense, so if this seemingly starts to turn that around then Lake stays....If they don't say screw it and throw him under the bus for smacking his player.

We’ve got way deeper issues that that. Seems pretty clear he’s just not ready, at best, to be a head coach. He’s a fantastic defensive coach, but at what point is the comfort of knowing “at least the defense will always be solid” not worth it?

We’ve been here before… if we hang on to give him every chance possible we’re just gonna circle the drain and have to start from scratch and have years of rebuilding ahead of us. Times have changed since the last time we went through this, I’ve never seen fans so board with the program (myself included), and that’s including an 0-12 year. They have to do something…

Wasn't your good defensive coach that Kiatowski guy? Lake just inherited his players

Sort of. Kwiatkowski was the DC early in the Petersen regime, lake was the DB coach, he eventually got the title “co-DC,” so he ran the defense for a while. But yes, originally that was the case.

And at the end of it all, Oregon was about to score at the end if not for a penalty, we ran the same run play right at their defense for the entire half and they couldn't come close to stopping it, and social media video of Cristobal going off on them in the locker room tops the night off.

Add in the rain all night and that might go down as the most miserable night in washington football history.

I don’t get this. I don’t really think the incident was that bad. I understand not being high on Lake leading the program but suspending him one game for this seems like nonsense

I think UW is trying to make his seat as uncomfortable as possible. Maybe they are thinking they can't fire him, so make him really hate the place and maybe he will leave on his own, or agree to leave on his own.

I mean it's likely they made him fire his OC, then they suspend him for something that really isn't that big of a deal, but all his haters have made it into a huge deal and are so obvious about their intentions making it a big deal.

washington is a mess right now

If UW won or was a good program at the moment this would be a non story. It wasn’t any different than if a batter is arguing with the umpire and the manager comes out and pushes the player away so he doesn’t get ejected.

Suspending him for one game at least gives them a chance to test out a new coach. But all I can see are the millions of dollars they could've saved.

There’s a bunch of speculation that they’re negotiating a buyout. But who knows, it’s just speculation. I can see that being a better option than trying to fire him for cause, but yeah, on the surface going with a game suspension seems like the worst possible way to go right now.

Can the temp coach at least put Huard in?

If they are thinking of possibly firing him then why not put him on administrative leave instead of just a 1 game suspension? A 1 game suspension seems either way too light or way too harsh depending on your point of view of the incident and doesn’t seem to accomplish anything other than risk hurting you guys in recruiting.

I don’t know what the fuck they’re doing man…

They're just throwing the game next Saturday to hurt Oregon's SOS ;)
