You may be right. in. However in the 40 years I have been following CFB Mich St. during a good season is just close but not enough to the likes of Ohio St, Mich, and Penn St

Yup, they were damn close under Dantonio and even made the playoffs once. I’m not sure they best those schools you mentioned consistently but Smith is the type of coach that can get them around them wins wise. I think it’s a good match.

I agree. Oregon St is not an easy place to succeed. He will have Mich St competitive and at least in the discussion

Penn state blows. One conference title the past 15 years. They beat all the inferior teams and poo the pants in the big games

I think you are missing the point. In terms of the conference, the most dominant teams are usually Ohio St, Michigan, and Penn St.

They are still a damn good team. Yes they don’t beat you guys and struggled with UM under Franklin but they are literally beating everyone else and win bowl games. They almost assuredly will make the playoffs this year with likely one regular season loss.

My point was they are not in the same league as UM and OSU. sparty can reach PSU levels and have won more conference titles in the past 15 and have actually made a CFP which Penn st might finally sniff since they expanded to 12 teams.
