GAME 7 TENN @ 12 UGA • now • abc

You think the lose of the SECCG will drop to 9-12? But, I am assuming the B1G loser will go to the 5 seed, right? LOL.

Where do you think uga is ranked heading into the ccg? Not much left schedule wise.

Where are all 4 teams going to be heading into the ccgs?

Oregon osu are 1/2.
Why don't we play the games ... tOSU may lose to Indiana, and you almost lost to Wisconsin.

I also think we are talking two different things. I wasn't talking about UGA, I was talking the SECCG loser and where they would fall. The two teams are most likely to be Texas and Alabama, ranked 3 or 2, depending on the tOSU/IU game, and Bama probably at 7. That means neither team would drop out of a home game if they lose. And, I am assuming the Committee doesn't penalize the loser.

No, we are baked in. We beat GaTech and we are in and will require people in front of us to lose in order to move up.

We should be 8 - 10, depending on whether they move Bama/OM/UGA in front of Miami like the AP, and/or move us in front of OM like the Coaches poll did.

We can move forward if PSU loses to Minnesota. If PSU loses to Minny, they drop out of the CFP, or they have to compare to the 2 loss SEC teams. I don't think they will fare well there.

We can also see what happens with tOSU and IU. We know one of those teams has to lose. I actually think there is a good chance we move ahead of the loser there. If IU loses, I can see them dropping down to 11 or 12. If tOSU loses, they will have to be compared to the SEC's 2 loss teams and I don't think they have the body or work that guarantees them to stay in front of some of them. While they can argue they don't have any bad losses, they only have 1 good win. UGA's body of work is better. Not sure about Bama or OM. Before you say they won't drop that far, when we lost our second game to Ole Miss, we dropped from 3rd to 12th, 9 spots, and we have a better body of work than tOSU and IU. Since then we have gotten better by beating another top 10 team.

We can also move up if Texas loses. I would expect them to also drop to about 11 or 12 as they are in the exact situation that UGA was in, but a far worse body or work. They would have no good wins, and losses to the 2 good teams they played.

So, depending on who loses the two games that are guaranteed to have losers, we could move up two more slots. So we likely end up 6-8, is my best guess.

I get your point, but @Indiana with their 52,000 seat stadium would not bother me a bit. A whiteout @PSU would be more of an SEC environment and more concerning. But playing either of those teams would be fine by me.

It might bother some of the Alabama players in Indiana on Dec 20 or 21

Even if Bama gets to 7, if they lose the ccg that's a road game in round 1.

#7 rank will equate to the 9 seed.

Yep, No way for Alabama to host a home game if they make the SEC CCG. That is for sure. If they win the SEC, they will get the Sugar BYE. If they lose the SEC CCG, it's either drop all the way out or at the best be the #12 seed. Either way, they are already in Playoff Mode with @ Oklahoma (WLOAP), Auburn (Iron Bowl), SEC CCG, Playoffs / Bowl Game, etc. That's fine by me. Win and be happy. Lose and go home.

I disagree ... I don't think their seeding will change due to a loss in the SECCG. Let's say Bama is 6 ... they lose ... they will be seeded 8th just as if they hadn't lost. It would be categorically unfair to drop them below UGA in that scenario when they got into the SECCG and UGA did not.

I doubt it ... it's not like it's warm and balmy in Tuscaloosa in December. And, it's not like Indiana has ever played football in December so they are used to it.

I dislike the weather argument. It's sad if you need weather to win. I mean that either cold or hot and humid.

Indiana players live in the North generally or at the very least are living there while attending.

It certainly can provide an advantage to someone living an area that regularly gets below freezing temps and bad wind chills in December compared to someone else. No Bama isn't tropical but their lowest temps are probably Indiana's average highs for that time of the year.

I'm not saying it's the end all be all that some people make it out to be and I've never been one of those "play up north in the snow" chest thumpers but it's certainly something that would help a team in the North playing against a team coming from the South.

The better team should win regardless of the weather, as both teams play in it. North, South, East or West.

In the case of Bama vs Indiana, I agree. The only times I would disagree would be if you have a team that is more defensively oriented and their offense runs the ball a ton vs a team that likes to air it out and play a little quicker on offense. Cold weather or rainy/windy weather is going to make the offense oriented team look worse

Rain and snow I get. Cold ... it's cold at night in the south when football is played. That's not as big a deal unless you are talking Lambeau shit.

I get it, but it's still rare, and the better team should adjust and win. There are plenty of crap weather games in the SEC (heat, rain, etc.). 'Bama just kicked LSU's arse in the rain. I think Milroe just scored again!

Most B1G games are played in good weather during September, October and early November. Yes, every once in a while, we get a real frosty game or snow situation, but it is rare.

Funny thing is that the coldest game I have ever been to in person was a Liberty Bowl @ Memphis that was 18 F at Kickoff with below 0 wind chills. It was so cold, Bear Bryant wore a red ski mask!

Alabama beat UCLA 36-6, and the Tide looked sharp that night! It might have been too cold for the Bruins, but the Tide played just fine.

Mine was the Belk Bowl in 2015-ish. Froze my ass off.

Also, I am more often than not very cold at high school games here in NC in late Oct and November.

Better team can adjust and win but it certainly provides a higher chance of upset.

To given an extreme example let's take say 2002 NC Ohio State vs 2019 NC LSU. LSU is undoubtedly the better team in my mind. However, those two teams play in a windy, rainy, low 40 degree day? Who is helped the most?

Issue is now a days is very few good teams, if any, are that gritty defense first and run the ball, controll the clock type offense. The game has evolved too much past that. Not to mention that every big school has nice indoor practice facilities now, elite teams recruiting is much more national. so the weather thing has definitely become more of anything of the past.

I still would give a slight advantage to a cold weather team if the conditions fit
