A day may come when the courage of men fails, but it is not this day

Neither Commissioner Petitti or the COPC can suspend Harbaugh. That language is not in the Big 10 Institutional Governance Standards.

Their only avenue would be to pressure Michigan to suspend him themselves. That would be via a reduction in revenue distribution of which the COPC would have every right to do as written. They'd need 70% of the COPC vote to enact said penalty.

A judge would highly likely grant the penalty regardless of Michigan's TRO since the Institutional Governance Standards explicitly state it can be done. Particularly since Michigan has "persistently failed to comply with the Conference Standards".

From there it's up to the NCAA to enact a show cause on Harbaugh, the vacating of wins, bowl bans, scholarship reductions, etc.
I truly have no idea what is true and what isn't. I have read so little on this, as I don't really care. I just saw a headline in MLive about wanting to stop them from suspending Harbaugh. And I think it was you who I got the info that the President can suspend Harbaugh 1 or 2 games. I have no idea what type of power he has?

I just want to watch the football game this Saturday. I don't care who is coaching the team.

On the annals of history, Stalions will forever be known as a "Michigan man".

LOL at "W&C doesn't take on dead-loser cases" - W&C takes on any case where the client pays their fucking bill. Did you expect them to hire some PI lawyer down the street? The idea that a Big Law law firm somehow means anything substantively, is absurd. I assure you that the B1G has its own Big Law law firm.
You don’t know who they are. Lol at you. The big ten won’t have firm anywhere in this ballpark. They probably couldn’t afford it. There are like 3-5 “bet the company” firms in this country. This is one. If you want to ruin someone at any price:
Williams Connelly
Quinn Emmanuel
Boise Schiller

Maybe 1-2 more I can’t think of?

And part of this is exciting because we’ve never seen our administration do anything like this before.

I posted a link to the Institutional Governance Standards in the other thread. Search COPC and you'll find it.

Anybody who needs a good laugh.
i.e. Anybody that's not a Michigan fan.
I couldn't care less about Michigan man. Just win games. That's all I care about.

Are you an idiot? I've been an attorney for close to 40 years. You don't think I know who the top litigation firms are?

And do you think any lawyer is afraid of other law firms? LOL. I loved litigating against large firms that were the "best firms." They underestimate people in smaller firms. At the end of the day, the one thing lawyers think about is, "will my client pay my bill?" If the other side wants to run up the bill, guess what? I get to run up my bill. That's awesome.

Among other cases, I was involved in some of the largest asbestos lawsuits in the nation. We were a small firm that regularly kicked the large firms' asses. Why? Because we were just as smart as them, had a client with an unlimited budget for our fees, and at the end of the day the facts were on our side. If you really think that hiring a large law firm matters, you are more of an idiot than I thought.

Stay in your lane on this one.

I don't care enough. I will just wait until they announce the penalty. 90% of what I know about this case is what has been posted in here by you and huskers. Ive read like two articles when it first happened. I've ignored the rest.

I believe they are hiring them to stop the suspension. Though I've read nothing about this firm. Hell -- I've read very little about the case at all.
You realize that your awesome law firm will not be able to waltz into court and somehow simply impress or intimidate the judge, right? If the facts are on your side, you will win. If they aren't, you won't win. It's good you have a good law firm, of course. But it's not like you suddenly have a better chance because you hired one of many good law firms.

I am sure he is having a hard time deciding what to do. It's a big move a couple of months into his tenure.

That said, this has nothing to do with the nature of the law firm that has been hired. In other words, he isn't going, "oh, shit, they hired W&C, maybe I should rethink this." That is what your moronic previous post implied and that I blew up.

Like I said, stay in your lane if you want to talk to me about law firms and legal issues. You are way more ignorant about that than you are about all the other stuff you are wrong about.

Absolute nonsense. The big ten was ready to try and suspend Harbaugh indefinitely two days ago. Michigan fighting back by getting one of the top firms in the country to represent them absolutely plays into this. It represents so many things, but most importantly the willingness to take this very far and cost a lot.

Jeez, you are dumb.

Two days ago they did tell UM what they wanted to do. They gave UM 2 days to respond, and I am guessing they have as of this afternoon. Based on the substantive info they received from UM, they are now deciding what to do.

My guess is that the information that has come out about the other schools providing signals to Purdue, plus whatever substantive information UM provided has now given the B1G reason to think through their course of action.

This is exactly what should have happened. It has zero to do with the identity of the law firm. The fact you think anyone who is in business is scared of an opposing law firm is idiotic. Hell, to be honest, you really want a good law firm on the other side. It's easier to litigate against smart people than it is crazy lawyers or pro se litigants.

lol oops

LOL

We must not punish the dedicated players, coaches and staff of the University of Michigan football program"

Here comes the victim card.

Those poor "dedicated" players, coaches, and staff who've all benefited from the cheating.

The Big 10 has the NCAA rules and direct evidence of "in-person" scouting and electronic recording of over 30 of Michigan's in-season "future opponents" dating back three seasons.

They don't have to wait for the NCAA's notice of allegations, nor do they have to wait for the NCAA to finish it's investigation.

Here is everything that was said by the Rivals guy:

Some big news I was able to get just now from a handful of sources.

Was able to confirm that Tony Petitti issuing an “indefinite” suspension of Jim Harbaugh is highly in doubt.

Even more interesting, he has been pondering on whether to offer any kind of suspension at all as he’s “painted himself into a dumb corner,” per one of my best sources.

There hasn’t been a definite decision one way or the other and we’ll still have to see how this plays out.

As always, Michigan will fight any suspension and will be ready to go.

No mention of being afraid of a law firm.
