A Tuesday for standing in line

oh noes, the guy that hasn't played all year is suspended for 3 games.

 
Working hard to make $$$ so you can enjoy holidays w your wife & kids is what being a man is all about.

It’s not about just throwing candy at people so they’ll leave you alone.

Being a good husband is satisfying your wife every day of the year, not just when the calendar tells you to.

Being a good father is raising your kids to be upstanding adults. You don't need a calendar for that either.

Both of those things require hard work but neither require money.

I believe materialism is a detriment to our society and those holidays you work for are saturated with materialism. I'm not interested. I have no problem with others partaking in those materialistic rituals; just don't expect me to go along with it.
 
This morning, I thought I'd pop in and vote on my way to work. Went into panic mode when I hit the line of cars backed up over a mile from the poling place.

Ended up being a conveniently placed auto accident that was keeping people from actually getting there (no, I don't think this was intentional). But I was terrified voting was going to take hours and hours.

Instead, I was in and out in about five minutes as the parking area started to fill up with people also trapped in the road block.

The emotional toll and shock at the prospect of a long wait should convince you that mail in is a better option.

Voter experiences vary.

There was zero line when I stopped to vote after work. 3/4 of the people working the tables I've known for two decades and had a nice little chat with them. It was satisfying to watch the polling machine increment when I personally inserted my ballot.

Holidays like Valentines Day & Halloween are days of the year. I’ll drop it though.
