You get paid, sure, but you're routinely out of the top 8 of your own conference. You're essentially a Mississippi State in the B1G, and even Miss St has had more recent success, so that may not be the accurate comparison.

If the PAC stays up, no members will leave. It'll be the PAC-10, if not back to the PAC-12 or PAC-14 if they add teams.

Look, it's no secret that behind the scenes there is a battle brewing between the PAC and Big12. It's a race to see who can get each others teams.

Why would a Big 12 move to the PAC? Bad network deal, bad time zones, liberal leadership and they gain nothing they don’t already have.

You guys don’t even get a voice because Utah, AZ, ASU and Colorado are probably going to make it for you.

The Big12 is full of cabbage patch teams.

A Texas Tech or Baylor would likely find benefit to coming to the PAC. The PAC has a new commissioner, they'll be innovative with how they structure this new network deal. I'd trust the PAC's future over the Big12's future with each conferences current teams. You think Oregon and the rest of the PAC teams are going to stand by and not be creative in moving forward?

I said the same thing. I don't see the B1G or the SEC wanting Colorado, Utah, Arizona and Arizona State so those make sense for the Big 12. (Any of those would bolt to the B1G or SEC came a calling as well.)

So is the Pac 10, even if we have more valuable programs left over, the conference has been so horribly mismanaged for more than a decade that we hold no cards. We're losing our biggest market and presence in our hottest recruiting grounds. The best we can hope is the Big 10 comes around and ends up wanting UW, Oregon, and whatever else between Stanford/Cal/Colorado, but with their current "cool your tits" stance, some kind of Big 12 merger might be in the future, and make no mistake, it will be on their terms.

yeah but for the Big12 they need those schools.. their best angle is that they KNOW nobody wants them at the big 2 conferences. They really should be worried that somehow the PAC digs it's heels and they decide to keep trucking, because at the end of the day.. I think that the PAC will get a better deal than what the new Big12 is going to get

Yep, none of those four are going to be targets for the BiG, but they definitely lend a lot of credibility to a Big Xii that is on the verge of G6 territory.

I think the AZ schools are perfect fits for the Xii. It's just kinda awkward now that the league has those other schools East of the River

Okay, now join us back in reality for a minute and give a serious answer. The Big 10 maybe, but it's been made pretty clear that we'll need to be patient if we even want to be considered for that option.

The SEC has shown no interest in any Pac school that I've heard of, that's your goofy OD "we're the best program on the planet, of course they're coming for us" thing.

Classic uw mindset. Just give up and let others dominate us and give the ol, 'nothing we can do about it, it's just the way it is' response.

This is why I wish Oregon would just cut ties with the whole conference and go out on their own and get picked up by a more football oriented conference. The only reason washington is in talks to follow us is because of the Seattle market, which we all know doesn't give two cents about fusky football when they aren't good because they can follow the Seahawks instead.

You may be right. U-Dub + Oregon are definitely better brands than anything in the current Big Xii. If I was them, I'd be on the phone with all the other member schools, saying "baby, please don't go, we can make this work..."

The only thing is, it doesn't seem like the BiG wants U-dub or Oregon, either, so at the end of the day, how much more valuable are they than anybody else?

I would think so too. But, that's like being a taller midget. They don't have any real big draws either. The ones they do have are bigger than what is left in the Big 12 but still not big. I may be in the minority, but the biggest "market" left for them is ASU in Phoenix...not Washington or Oregon. JMO

They could stay at 10, play a true round robin and be the new Big 12.

The thing we have to do is try and keep the PAC together. We both know our programs are not going anywhere, unless it's the B1G or SEC, without our little in-state brothers. And because of that, these duct tape patch work conferences like the Big12 and ACC aren't going to take us with them in tow.

So we have to make the PAC work. If it's about markets, we have Stanford, CAL, Seattle, Vegas, Denver, Portland. Build around that and try to get additions, I'll take Boise for competitiveness, and either SDSU and/or UNLV, or both and try to grab one more team to make it PAC-14.

Brand wise, the remaining teams in the PAC dominate the Big12 brands. Market wise, besides like Houston, we are pretty comparable with them. Innovative wise for the future, I am taking Sillicon Valley, Eugene, Seattle and the West Coast over Lawrence Kansas and Stillwater, Oklahoma.
