If the PAC teams couldn't make enough money when USC was there, they sure won't be making it now.

not just that but the bay area is a huge TV market. Fox said that they estimated it was worth 97 mil alone between Stanford and Cal. You add in the PHX market and tap into TX which will definitely pick up the PAC network if they haven't already with just a couple additions down there.. no need for 4 TX schools.. combination of 2 will do it..Tech and Baylor? You may be right. U-Dub + Oregon are definitely better brands than anything in the current Big Xii. If I was them, I'd be on the phone with all the other member schools, saying "baby, please don't go, we can make this work..."
The only thing is, it doesn't seem like the BiG wants U-dub or Oregon, either, so at the end of the day, how much more valuable are they than anybody else?
sorta how the TX market is hampered now with UT gone too? 4 outside schools won't carry much now that UT and aggy are outIf the PAC teams couldn't make enough money when USC was there, they sure won't be making it now.
yeah but for the Big12 they need those schools.. their best angle is that they KNOW nobody wants them at the big 2 conferences. They really should be worried that somehow the PAC digs it's heels and they decide to keep trucking, because at the end of the day.. I think that the PAC will get a better deal than what the new Big12 is going to get
We have a top 15 market and are a first rate research institution. I don't know what Oregon offers though...You may be right. This I agree with. Thank you for coming down long enough to make a thoughtful post. The thing we have to do is try and keep the PAC together. We both know our programs are not going anywhere, unless it's the B1G or SEC, without our little in-state brothers. And because of that, these duct tape patch work conferences like the Big12 and ACC aren't going to take us with them in tow.
So we have to make the PAC work. If it's about markets, we have Stanford, CAL, Seattle, Vegas, Denver, Portland. Build around that and try to get additions, I'll take Boise for competitiveness, and either SDSU and/or UNLV, or both and try to grab one more team to make it PAC-14.
Brand wise, the remaining teams in the PAC dominate the Big12 brands. Market wise, besides like Houston, we are pretty comparable with them. Innovative wise for the future, I am taking Sillicon Valley, Eugene, Seattle and the West Coast over Lawrence Kansas and Stillwater, Oklahoma.
also.. everyone knows this is a short term fix til the bigger plan gets in place.. soo. now is when the PAC should use it's leverage on Wazzu, osu.. possibly AZ too.. in having them get a smaller portion to kick up to the CA schools/Oregon/Washington.Which is why nobody in the PAC is bolting until they get word on what WA, Stanford and OR are doing.
Notre Dame is the first domino, Oregon, Stanford and Washington are next and then the Big 12 can act. I'm sure the Big 12 wants to be aggressive here but they don't have as strong of a hand as people seem to think they do.
USC/UCLA are blocking our move to the B1G. I don't think we get the invite. Talking with others and reading blue checks on twitter, it sounds like USC and UCLA don't want us in the B1G and if the B1G and them wanted us and UW they would've already offered us.Which is why nobody in the PAC is bolting until they get word on what WA, Stanford and OR are doing.

But USC/UCLA don't want us in their conference. Since their sanctions, Oregon has owned USC on the field and in recruiting. We've taken the So Cal talent, this is a move of sanctuary for them. In terms, it's like the moment in a horror movie when Mike Myers is chasing someone and they run to a house and shut the door behind them, we are Mike Myers, USC/UCLA are the people running into the house and the house is the B1G.
The B1G see's it as why upset the new media giants, and in terms of market and tv they wonder what can UW and Oregon bring to the table that is worthy of sharing their enormous revenue. You think Wisconsin, Michigan and Ohio State, teams Oregon has also recently beaten, want to share a piece of their money pie with us? In this comparison it's like the B1G is hosting this glamourous party and we show up with a store bought potato salad. They will ask each other if that tub of potato salad is worth them sharing their high end dinner plates with us.
Oh, that is just...it's like the moment in a horror movie when Mike Myers is chasing someone and they run to a house and shut the door behind them, we are Mike Myers, USC/UCLA are the people running into the house and the house is the B1G.
I liked the part comparing Oregon to store bought potato saladOh, that is just...![]()
that's the rumor i heard too.. that the LA teams wanted to be THE ONLY schools from the PAC footprint into the BiG. Not sure what exactly happened but they are pissed with the other PAC schools.I doubt USC is blocking anything. The issue is the Big Ten knows it can poach the remaining PAC schools whenever. Their focus is now on ND and the remaining ACC schools to see what's available. At the end of the day, I believe espn protects their assets in the ACC and the Big Ten eventually adds on ND, Oregon, Huskies and Stanford. In the mean time, the PAC continues.

Reports are the PAC was worth 500 million and now they are worth 300 million. If the PAC teams couldn't make enough money when USC was there, they sure won't be making it now.
I don’t know that it’s crap, but it sure as fuck doesn’t matter. That sounds like messageboard crap. It's about money. That's all it's about.
SIAP
Big12 is in a peculiar spot.. do they expand West or do they swoop in to grab the schools on the outside from the ACC? Pitt, VaTech, Syracruse, GT..Miami?I like that

I get wanting out of the Pac, but over the last decade + of the Pac 12 going down the toilet, and the presidents and ADs standing by Larry Scott’s incompetent ass, I don’t ever recall USC or UCLA being the ones standing out and pushing back. They can go straight to hell, and if they want to be the only west coast teams in the Big 10 (which makes no sense on their end), the Big 10 won’t care when everything gets out of control and they’re fighting with the SEC to scoop up any program with value.
