ACC on life support, 7 members getting ready to pull the plug

If FSU and Clemson are the only teams that could jump to a better paying conference, why would 5 other schools help them do that while they can't.

What kind of thinking is that exactly.
I don't think they have thought it through, or more likely it's just bluster to get a merit based distribution of revenue.

Don’t be fooled, both conferences would take UNC in a heartbeat. A flagship in a new state with a blue blood basketball program. Aside from that it’s schools just angling to try and get invited into one of these P2. None of them are actually going to vote to disband without an invite.

The SEC/BIG would absolutely LOVE to get UNC, not EXACTLY the same but similar to how both would run nekkid through a brush fire to have Notre Dame as a full member as well.
JMO but I believe the SEC would want them a little worse than the BIG though also JMO I think they would be a better “fit” in the BIG.

Heard a talking head today say that some of his “sources” have told him that there are several of the ACC members who wouldn’t mind seeing the ACC just go away altogether.
Said their leadership has been a bit of a joke but…

Who knows what’s legit or not when it comes to the realignment stuff.

Excellent thread on the ACC and its options....

they have no options.. and i laugh that they think most of the money will go towards paying players through NIL.. Academic side will feed on the majority of the revenue.. Sports will get upgrades and coaches will continue to get paid a lot as well as coordinators.. but thinking the schools itself will be handing out money for "students" to sign with them is quite the reach... outside LSU at least 👀

FSU and Clemson want more money, who doesnt? But the money is not going to break them.. it's the perception of CFB being just about 2 conferences now, which I get but let's be for real.. that isn't hurting Clemson like that right now.. hiring the right coordinators is hurting Clemson more.. FSU just needs to keep improving

Whatever it takes, baby.
Besides, LSU is on it's 4th HC this century and they don't want this Notre Dame goober to snap the streak.

One thing that everyone seems to gloss over - there is a reason that the ACC gets less money per team, and it's not their terrible contract with ESPN or the GOR. It really boils down to this - they just don't provide a compelling product when it comes to football. So none of these 5 things in the Twitter thread will mean a hill of beans if they don't find a way to get their teams to play better football and their fans to care enough to watch the games. The GOR keeps the good teams from leaving, and even if ESPN said they would open negotiations, what could the ACC say that would result in ESPN paying more money?

think the only thing they can point to is adding a 9th conference game?

Could they kick out the bad/useless teams like Duke, Wake Forest, Boston College, and UVA? That might help the rankings by, basically, being addition by subtraction.

That does not appear to have persuaded ESPN with the SEC, yet. But, yes, something like that would help as more games against Clemson.

kicking out UVA is one of the most retarded things i have ever read

and i have read all of @CoalTrain's posts on this thread

True. The product is worth what they are getting paid right now.

Look at their viewership, it is towards the bottom of ACC. I just went with bottom 4.

Gonna walk this back a little. They might be worth a little more IDK but there is no incentive for ESPN to pay it.
