Still saying 4-8. I don’t think yesterday changed anything. We beat a team we should have beaten. Offense is going to struggle against any decent defense. Defense looked good yesterday but NIU offense was pretty bad

I'm going to up it to (5-7) from (4-8) mainly because the defense seems to be playing well and there's nothing real scary about the remainder of the season.

Nebraska
Rushing Defense: 2nd
Sacks: 4th
Total Defense: 29th
Scoring Defense: 48th
Pass Yds Allowed: 91st

To be fair those passing yds were given up to 4* Shedeur Sanders who had offers from Alabama Georgia, FSU. Take that out and Minnesota/NIU average was 159.5 which is 15th nationally.

Minnesota had 196 passing yards. They average 148 passing YPG. Nebraska had 4 turnovers.
Colorado had 396 passing yards. They average 418 passing YPG. Nebraska had 4 turnovers.
N. Illinois had 123 passing yards. They average 197 YPG. Nebraska had 1 turnover.

Given that Nebraska's not gonna see another Shedeur Sanders this season, I've seen nothing to change my opinion that there are some possible wins here given we take care of the ball.

@ Illinois: Passing Offense: (73rd/233 YPG) Rushing Offense: (99th)
Northwestern: Passing Offense: (105th/186 YPG) Rushing Offense: (118th)
Purdue: Passing Offense: (37th/275 YPG) Rushing Offense: (100th)
Michigan St. Passing Offense: (47th/263 YPG) Rushing Offense: (107th)
Maryland. Passing Offense: (22nd/304 YPG) Rushing Offense: (50th)
@ Wisconsin. Passing Offense: (69th/237 YPG) Rushing Offense: (27th)
Iowa. Passing Offense: (121st/150 YPG) Rushing Offense: (72nd)

I'm in the 4-8/5-7 range. That said, there aren't many games left where I'd be surprised that they managed to win.

Ya got stats on their defenses?
I'm far too lazy to look myself.

5-7

The defense is good but won’t be able to carry the load all season for an offense that is inept and has no real explosiveness. I’m impressed by how many helmets swarm to the ball though on D.

Offense reminds me of 2009 Zac Lee

I can see W's agianst;

La Tech, IL, NW, Purdue. Maybe get another against MSU, Maryland. going with 4 more.

At this point Maryland looks to be the toughest statistical matchup of the group.

Yea, not much change from beating that cupcake. I'm still in the 5 or 6 win bucket, as I said last week, the other teams on our schedule have issues as well.

I think Haarberg throws it better than Sims, if Sims comes back, I'd consider trying a dual QB system, as Sims has the speed to run some routes and let Haarberg throw. They ran a couple of plays with Haarberg at WR against Minn, need more options off that. That's the one thing I haven't seen enough of from our OC, running something off concepts you've shown. Just seems like the opponents are too easily predicting what we want to do.

I've said it a ton already, but if they go back to Sims, we need way more read option. Having Sims turn around and hand it off makes it way to easy for the defense. But Sims run threat would hold DL and LBs and help our crappy OL. You could see examples pretty much every time against NIU, then look at Haabergs last TD that was wide open because of the option.

Maryland and MSU look like the 6th, maybe 7th win. MSU is really treading down, Maryland is a 50/50. Dare I say 8 is possible with Iowa win, if they get the 2 other?
