This is a load of shit. Weight stigma my ass. You want to be able to be slovenly, lazy, non active and wildly out of shape and for your doctor to not assess you.

Next up smokers will ask the doctor to not talk about their habit, drug addiction is okay because if you ask me about it it stresses me out.

I don't think that's a good idea. There isn't really a backlog of eligible HOFers. I mean, the only guy on the ballot that has "shoo-in" stats right now is A-Rod. The rest of the guys are fringe HOFers who should eventually get in (Rolen, Helton, Beltran, etc.). I do agree that whenever the sure-fire guys come up (hello Beltre), they should be getting 100% of the vote, but there's going to be years where Joe Sportswriter isn't going to have someone he thinks belongs, and I think that's fair to be able to turn in a blank ballot.

these doctors aren't blind. they don't need to see a number to know they're fat. if they don't want to know the number that's fine. none of that limits the doctor from telling them they have numerous conditions caused by their morbid obesity.

I heard an interesting medical story earlier today from a coworker. His wife's BP has been steadily elevating for a couple of weeks. Dr asked how much water she drinks daily and of course she says she drinks 8-10 glasses. He then asks if they have a water softener at their home. They do and he told her the salt in their softener is throwing her BP out of whack.

Got me thinking about how many people out there have water softeners and similar issues.

Honestly….that would be my reaction as well, but having a family member who has had an eating disorder I kind of get it.

I get it in the sense that weight can be SUCH a trigger to the person and all the dysmorphia their condition caused. Further….I don’t think actual weight is the end all be all overall health metric for the Dr.

That said…I also see this as a crutch. A huge part of overcoming such a disorder is exposure therapy. Stepping up on a scale is surely part of that exposure therapy.

I could see this card being useful when in treatment….after that it’s just a crutch and can feed backsliding.

I watched a news story over the weekend. This black heifer was starting an organization to help black women with complications with their pregnancies. All well and good until she threw out the "systemic racism" excuse. You are fat. When you are fat you have comorbidity. Unless you can show me evidence of a white supremacist forcing you to gorge ho ho's I am not getting on that train.
