I cannot remember but I think there was a situation where a couple of players were able to go to NFL but they had to agree to serve in the Military after playing or something like that. The Military still got what it wanted.

You have zero clue what these kids lives are like and nothing compares to it.

I know a dozen kids that have gotten offers from the service a academies and went to schools like Furman, Samford, Jacksonville State and Birmingham Southern instead. They just couldn’t do it.

Tell a recruit at any other program yeah if you sign first thing is boot camp and the last thing is 5 years of service.

The playing field isn’t remotely level at any point, so no they shouldn’t have to follow the same rules.

You are 100% correct, I don't know what it's like. I worked for a guy who went to the Naval Academy, and I went to HS with a guy who went to the AF Academy, and that's about as close as it gets.

I know it's different though, and way behind anything in terms of rigors that I'll hopefully ever go through. I love watching the Academies go up against one another, and would love to attend an Army/Navy game. I have incredible respect for ANYONE who even tries to go to those schools because from what I've heard, it's insane.

But we are talking about a sport, a college sport. Where it doesn't matter if you allow anyone with a pulse in, or require incoming students to be perfect students, the rules are the rules. It was already mentioned that the students get a stipend even before the NIL came about, which was something specific to the Academies I believe.

The NCAA just has a period where they don't want the recruiting to be on campus, and AF broke the rule. This doesn't really seem to be that difficult of a rule to follow, and the fact that AF isn't appealing it means that there may actually be more, but are taking this to save face. I'm not saying that's the case, but certainly you'd think they'd appeal this.

I hate to bring you more bad news, but I agree with a lot of what you post, so your constant annoyance at anything I post is just annoying at this point.

We haven’t even gotten the part where they virtually zero leave on the weekends for the first semester, still have all their military obligations and have to wear a uniform 100% of the time. They can’t even study in their rooms without the door open and the upper classmen have the right to enter their room pretty much at any time.

There simply is not a comparison and the academies are not college.

There is nothing the same about a standard college and a service academy. They are completely different entities and they have completely different schedules.

For example most college kids get summers off the academy kids are lucky if they get a month. They have duty assignments in the summer. This summer we got two weeks with my daughter and that was it.

They should be able to self govern because they have so many other requirements no one else has its ridiculous.

I believe you're thinking of Chad Hennings, one of the few good enough to make it to the NFL.

He was drafted around 88 (I think) but still had to do his active obligation, which was actually longer since he was a pilot (8 years). But after the first Gulf War, DoD did a massive reduction so he got the remainder 4 active years waived. He still went into the reserves while playing for Dallas.

The DOD stopped allowing athletes to go pro for several years but Trump changed it. Problem is now if an athlete is good enough to play at the next level they will just transfer. As long as you leave the academy before you sign a commitment at the start of your junior year you can leave with no penalty. After that you have to pay back the government or go enlisted and work it off.

What is sad is that he makes good points sometimes in his posts but it is covered with just non-sensical insults about sucking dicks or UTjr crap. It is literally something a 12-year old would type.

I can fall into this trap to, but you get posters who just argue to be right because of pride. I am trying to work on it. To be fair, I was a little rough on @ELTEXAN and @trojanfan12 Sunday in the Hateful8 thread. As crazy as it sounds, I was pretty frustrated at Texas because I just cannot stand seeing programs underachieve... similar to my thread about Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M after week 2.

This really gets me frustrated at Tennessee and made me wonder at times why I was a fan. We rarely overachieve as a program .

I will say this though, most people on here are a blast, even the guys you get into heated arguments with like @Wild Turkey. Sometimes it is good to just step away from the keyboard at times.

Hell, I am getting flamed for my top 25 votes right now in the Voting Discussion thread and the criticism doesn't make any sense. (Apparently Texas Tech is some world beating program that is better than Florida and Oregon State and NC State should be in top 5 for beating them).

Also don't ever say anything about the SEC being the best conference or how tough the competition is in it, you will get flamed and called idiots. I mean Baylor is year in and year out better than most of Tennessee's opponents such as Florida and Georgia according to posters on here.

Yeah - I mean there are two posters that I have already used the ignore feature on, as they add nothing of value (not even comedic value) and I was just tired to their constant insults.

I don't ignore people. There have been posters that I have really bashed heads with that I get along great on here. Just take a break and laugh about it. Also keep in mind there are A LOT of trolls on here that cannot be taken seriously. They are just messing with you.
