Air Force placed on 2 year probation for recruiting violations

No, actually you popped off then have tried to weasel your way into a position where you profess your respect for the academies while insisting they play by the same rules regardless of their obvious need for some special dispensation when it comes to NCAA governance. You want your cake and eat it too. This is like saying you love women but insist they play from the same tee box as the men. It's just bullshit and a lot of us can see right through it.
And you are one of those posters that make this site for the worst. You assume the worst in people.

I'm not weaseling my way out of anything. In fact, I was proven incorrect in my thinking, admitted to it, and moved on.

The fact that you are stuck in the first part just show your ineptness in seeing people move on in a conversation.

Not looking for a war here, my friend. Let's just chalk this one off and start over. OK?

All good with me sir.

I do apologize if there is anything I said that led anyone to believe I was against the academies. That was not my intention at all.

My cousin was in the navy. He would tell me stories about training that he went to and how the Army and Navy guys had to stay in barracks, eat at the cafeteria, etc. while Air Force got to stay in BNB or Hotels and had nicer food options.

Definitely, if I was going into armed services, Air Force seems the way to go.
Coast Guard is the best option.

Air Force second.

You definitely don’t want to be a Marine if you don’t want to rough it.

Navy can be really hard because of the long deployments.

Army has some rough bases in some rough places.

The crazy thing is the one branch that I nearly joined was the Marine Core. I was going in to try for Marine JAG and then Obama did the Military cuts and even the recruiter recommend against it once that happened. Basically Naval Jurisprudence School in Rhode Island would show favoritism to people that were already in the service or were ROTC (I was out of school by this point). I can definitely understand that situation.

ROTC, in my opinion, is the best way to go because the Military pays for your school. If you go in after school, they only pay up to xxx amount.

I did try out of college to go to Air Force. Was told no way because of my asthma, and left it at that.

Sometimes I wonder would have changed if I could have joined. Obviously I'd be more disciplined, and given my occupation, I could have really learned a lot more if I'd been in the military.

But, it didn't happen and I wouldn't trade what I've done now for anything.

So ROTC was my daughter’s backup and she had a full academic scholarship already so the offer was 10K a year towards books and board (which the guy said was as high as he could go). Tuition and fees for two semesters at Auburn would run about 16K so I think ROTC is getting a reduced tuition but you probably have some type of bill.

I was MOS O300 (Basic Infantryman) before eventually ending up MOS 8654 (Reconnaissance Man, Parachute and SCUBA Qualified). We saw some stuff that is better left in the past and I wish I could have my memory bleached on some things like they do in the movies. But some of that Coast Guard stuff is seriously gnarly. WTF wants to jump out of a perfectly good helicopter into a 20' sea at night? Their motto is "You have to go out; You don't have to come back". My hat is off to those guys.

I was told there is a sniper competition between the branches and that the Coast Guard regularly wins. Of course they are shooting at an outboard motor on a go fast boat from a helicopter with both going full speed you tend to get good.
