Allegiant Stadium

Why did Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas go with natural grass? I like natural grass, nothing against it, I am just surprised they would go with natural grass as turf would allow them to host a lot more games and events in the same week. Thinking of the future of bowl games, I was thinking these non CFP or New Year Day bowls, should just be fun destination spots for teams as that may help in getting more players to play and Vegas would be a fun spot. But with turf they could host the PAC-12 Champ game, obviously the Raiders games, and i could see Vegas having two bowl games easily and maybe even hosting a CFP one day.

Natural grass is a luxury that all stadiums should try to achieve.

I like natural grass too. Wait a minute. I'm talking about a different kinda grass. Never mind.

It's nice and probably better, but I am just thinking from a money making standpoint you would think vegas would have gone artificial to try and get as many games/events in their stadium as possible.

Vegas could easily have two bowl games and eventually a playoff/NCG in the future, along with Raider games, but since they went natural grass they are limited to how many games they can have in a week.

Isn't their's like Glendale where they roll the turf outside when not having a game? Roll it back in for games.

Seems like if you do that you could have more than one playing surface. A football field isn't even an acre and a half.

that's right...saw somewhere that they put in turf for a UNLV game, took it out and rolled in the grass...thanks for the reminder

Yeah, I thought I saw something a few weeks ago where they had some other event there where they used turf and then rolled in the grass for the Raiders game. Think they showed it on pregame.

Unlv has their own field, Raiders have their grass, and I don't believe they let any other games on that field. Then they have an alternate field for other games, like the pac12 championship.

Raider always use the grass I believe. Don't know if they have played on turf at home.

I think for a while Reliant Stadium in Houston did just that...but one was real grass and the other artificial turf. Not sure if they still do.

There was a big to do about the Houston area high schools always having to go to Arlington to play in Jerry's world. But the Texas didn't want their grass field chewed up so I think they decided to get both. But the finals are still in Arlington anyway.

I'm pretty sure Jerry's world has two "carpets". One for the Cowboys and one for college/high school games.
